For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, with the most urgent items set out first.

How a drone roof survey works in Lower Green

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photos. If you’ve noticed flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and plant growth and moss on the roof, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

Villages like Lower Green often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, such as when you want to compare after future work.

What we do, step by step

Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit typically takes about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Somewhere as small as Lower Green, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

How to prepare

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Lower Green

Is Lower Green within the area you cover?

Yes, Lower Green is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Lower Green?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.

What if it rains on the day?

Light rain is typically fine; heavy rain and wind are different. Strong wind or a downpour can make access unsafe and ground a drone, so we’d move the date with you.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If the survey needs it and the roof space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch, and if the loft can’t be reached safely, the report says so.

Does someone need to be in?

Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that ahead of time, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.

How many surveys have you done?

We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, and 98% of clients are satisfied.

What a survey costs

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. This is what makes a difference:

  • The size of the roof
  • Height and safe access
  • House, block, shop or office
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed

Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Getting in touch

Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:

  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
  • Anything about access we should know
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside

Booking is simple: just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and give us a few details about the property and we’ll point you to the right survey. The price is agreed up front.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Lower Green

Stargroves, about 4.1 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Lower Green. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Inkpen Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Michael, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Tips from our surveys

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:

  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Move stored items away from the hatch
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet

The Premium Survey report comes the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible, alongside the other checks in the package.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll point you to the right survey before booking. What our survey covers.
