Drone Roof Survey in Morden

- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
Do you need a drone roof survey in Morden?
From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. You can’t see the back slope, the valleys or the chimney tops. Problems in those places often go unseen until they leak, which is why owners turn to a drone.
People normally book a survey when they’ve noticed one of these:
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
Take an older house close to St Lawrence Church: thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.
What to check before booking
- Their track record with similar roofs
- What they will not be able to tell you
- Whether the price includes VAT
- What exactly goes into their report
Drone roof survey in Morden
Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we’ll say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. Common reasons to book are wind damage high on the roof and lead work pulling away at abutments, across flat roofs on upper floors, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks.
London’s roofs are frequently hard to see from the street: butterfly roofs behind parapets, dormer tops and flat roofs over back additions. Drone photos and thermal images can show parts of a roof that are hard to reach safely. The weather decides the day: both drones and thermal cameras need the right conditions. What a thermal image shows is temperature, so anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, each with a short note and a photograph. You’ll see the good as well as the bad.

Can I check my roof myself?
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
It’s useful to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking and it will help the survey.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
If you own several properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To arrange surveys for several addresses, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.
What a survey costs
Survey packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Roof area
To find out what your survey will cost, ring 07833 053749 or email us and let us know about the roof. We will confirm the figure before booking.
What to let us know when you get in touch
What helps most when you contact us:
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
Unsure which package suits your roof? The easiest way is to phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We will explain the options and the price.
Tips from our surveys
There’s plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Book early if you’re near an airport
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Tell us about any leaks or concerns
The Premium Survey report comes the same day. Drone photos are included where we could fly, alongside the other checks in the package.
Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, so small faults are dealt with early.
Questions from Morden
How do I find out if my home in Morden is listed?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.
Are there drone restrictions around Morden?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
How much is a survey?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for the job before you book. To get a price, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
What happens after the survey?
You’ll receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.
How soon will I get the report?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access; we will agree the details when you book.
Do you cover Morden?
Yes. We survey roofs in Morden and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and South East England. For a price, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
The survey, step by step
We work from the outside in: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. In total, it takes an hour or two for a house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. From the street, a London terrace usually shows only its front slope or parapet, so in Morden we work round the house, using the street, the windows, the loft and any safe vantage point behind it. Shared stairs or a basement flat? Tell us who holds the keys.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
