Drone roof survey in Puddledock

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. Common reasons to book are outlets choked with leaves and silt and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, on fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and tall and steep roofs.

London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. Images are taken to show the roof we are surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building when you book. The extra view helps most on steep slopes, tall stacks and rear additions.

The report is written in plain words, so you do not need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

Practical tips

A little preparation and a few simple habits help, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Our tips:

  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that is not clear.

Do not block the vents at the eaves. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.

Common roof problems in Puddledock

Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are often invisible from below. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.

We are often asked to look at:

  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters

Controlled parking zones are common in London, so mention any permit rules for Puddledock.

Before you book any roof surveyor

  • Whether the roof space is looked at, where there is one
  • What the survey will not cover
  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Are they insured for the work?

What’s in a roof survey

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

Chimney tops are hard to see from the ground. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.

Ridges and hips

Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. Their condition is noted in the report.

Drone roof surveys in Puddledock: local notes

Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

Historic houses such as Chartwell, about 0.6 miles north-west, show how far back building around Puddledock goes. Aerial photos and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. The streets around a church like Holy Trinity Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we check the roof.

What a survey costs

Prices always include VAT. The things that change the price are:

  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • The size of the roof

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.

What to tell us when you contact us

We’ll normally ask about:

  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • When you need the report by
  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them

When you’re ready to go ahead, phone 07833 053749 or email us. We will suggest a package, agree the price and find a date, weekday or weekend.

Common questions in Puddledock

Can parking be tricky for a visit in Puddledock?

Parking in Puddledock, as in most of London, takes a little planning: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day run more smoothly.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Puddledock?

Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.

How many surveys have you done?

We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, and 98% of customers are satisfied.

Do I need to be at home?

If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We will talk about access as you book.

Is a drone roof survey a thermal survey?

No, the drone survey is photographic. Thermal imaging is a separate check in the Premium Survey, and its findings are checked with moisture readings.

Do you cover Puddledock for drone roof surveys?

Yes. We cover Puddledock and the rest of Greater London. For a price, call 07833 053749 or email us.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Puddledock?

It is easiest to ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. Give us the address and a few details about the roof. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

What happens on the day

The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It typically takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Many London properties are flats or terraces with no side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, tell us when you book.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.

How to prepare

  • For flats, check roof access has been agreed
  • Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
