Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in St Clement's

Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We’ll tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, fragile roofs and large and complex roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and storm damage on steep or tall roofs.

Places like St Clement's can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.

After the visit, you get a report with photographs, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

Roof by roof

Chimney stacks

Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. We record what we find with photos.

Large commercial roofs

Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically.

Useful tips for St Clement's property owners

Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Tips:

  • Tell us the exact address when booking
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet

Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos from the flight. Findings are set out in plain English, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Take photos of any changes.

How the survey works

Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof; as a rough guide, the survey takes roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. You are welcome to ask questions while we are there. A visit to a smaller place like St Clement's is no different on the day: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. It is useful to show us anything you’ve already noticed.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street

Drone roof surveys around St Clement's

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

For hotels and guest houses around St Clement's, a roof problem found early is far less disruptive than one found by a guest. Shop and office owners around Clarendon Shopping Centre may find that large commercial roofs are often easiest to see from the air or with a thermal camera. The streets around a church such as St Clement's Church are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

FAQs for St Clement's

Are there drone restrictions around St Clement's?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

How do I find out if my home in St Clement's is listed?

Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

Not always. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.

Will you go up on the roof?

Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.

Will you check the loft?

If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. The roof space can show things the outside can’t, like damp timbers, staining or daylight.

How long is the visit?

Expect it to take an hour or two on an ordinary house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. You’ll then get the report by email, on the timescale of your package.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

We confirm the exact price before booking. These are the things that affect it:

  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • Roof area

There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

What to tell us when you get in touch

There’s no need for technical words. Just tell us:

  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • What made you get in touch
  • The kind of building and roof involved

Not sure which survey you need? The easiest way is to phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and describe the roof and what’s worrying you. We’ll explain the options and the price.

What you can safely check yourself

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

Leave it or get it looked at?

It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. Our report shows the condition of each area. That helps you put the work in order. In a smaller place like St Clement's, wherever a roof is exposed, a loose ridge or flashing doesn’t stay loose for long. Each storm lifts it a little further.

Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Prices start from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.
