Quarrendon Estate Gutter Survey
Gutter surveys in Quarrendon Estate from an independent, experienced roof surveyor. More than 20 years and over 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
- Cracked or loose downpipes
- Overflowing valley or parapet gutters
- Joints that drip after rain
Before and after the survey
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:
- Keep climbers away from the eaves
- Watch the gutters during heavy rain
- Check the loft with care after heavy rain
- Ask for valleys and parapet gutters to be cleared too
The report comes with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency where relevant. Share it with a contractor of your choice so they know what needs doing.
Get the gutters cleared every year or more frequently near trees. Late autumn, after the leaves have fallen, is a sensible time. Clear gutters can carry water away as they should.
Gutter survey in Quarrendon Estate
This survey covers rainwater above ground: gutters, outlets, hoppers, downpipes and overflows. It is not a CCTV drain survey and we can’t see inside buried drains. If the problem looks like a blocked or broken drain below ground, we will say so in the report, so you can get the drains checked separately. Problems above ground, from split hoppers to leaking downpipes, are photographed and noted. We survey outlets and hoppers, fascias and soffits and eaves gutters, and common reasons people get in touch are soffits marked by water and downpipes that are split or coming away.
Trees around homes in smaller places like Quarrendon Estate drop leaves, twigs and moss onto roofs and into gutters. Once gutters and outlets block, water spills over and soaks the walls. It is the kind of slow problem a roof report picks up early. Plants growing from a gutter or moss on the tiles are signs worth noting from ground level.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, each with a short note and a photograph. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

Gutter surveys in Quarrendon Estate: local notes
The wider area around Quarrendon Estate has a long history of building, with Waddesdon Manor about 4.8 miles west. If your house is among the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Whatever the covering, it is frequently the fixings, flashings, valleys and gutters that give out first.
If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near St Peter's, its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look. Shop and office owners around Friars Square may find that a dated report on the roof is useful for planning and for any lease discussions.

What we look for on each type of roof
Box and secret gutters
Hidden gutters are a common source of leaks inside. We check the outlets, linings and overflows where safe.
Plastic (uPVC) gutters
On plastic systems, slipped joints are one of the most common faults. The report notes every one we spot.
Common roof problems in Quarrendon Estate
Falling leaves are the most common cause of blocked gutters. Nearby trees drop leaves, twigs and seeds into gutters every autumn and the debris builds up at the outlets. Once an outlet is choked, the gutter fills and overflows.
Typical things we’re asked to look at include:
- Brackets that have dropped or snapped
- Water backing up from a hidden gutter
- Soffits marked by water
- Downpipes that are split or coming away
If you own a rental within reach of Aylesbury station, knowing the condition of the roof, chimneys and gutters helps you plan work rather than react to complaints.

How we price gutter surveys
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Height and safe access
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
The cost of a survey depends on the roof: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Prices start from £150, including VAT.
What to let us know when you get in touch
You do not need to know any roofing terms. Just let us know:
- Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
- The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
Our phone lines are open seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. To book or ask a question, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
How the survey works
We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and if part of the roof can’t be seen, the report says so. Most visits take about 1–2 hours at a house, depending on how many gutter runs and downpipes there are. Being in a smaller place like Quarrendon Estate does not change how the visit works: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.
- We start with what you’ve noticed, such as damp or overflowing gutters.
- We walk round the building and check the gutters, downpipes and fascias from the ground.
- Valleys, parapets and box gutters are inspected where they can be seen safely.
- The roof space is checked for staining, where it can be reached safely.
- A written report with photos and recommendations follows.
