- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- The shape of the roof and its details
- Basic, Standard or Premium

Gutter survey in Queen's Park
We survey gutters and rainwater systems in Queen's Park and right across London and the South East. We inspect everything we can see safely, from ground level, from windows and from the roof space. A visit usually takes roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. Afterwards, you get a written report with photos and recommendations. If you’ve noticed valley or box gutters that overflow inside and soffits marked by water, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
Much of London’s housing is flats, in converted houses or purpose-built blocks, where the roof is typically a shared part of the building. Whoever looks after the building needs a clear picture of the roof, chimneys and gutters, in Queen's Park as anywhere. A defect on a shared roof can reach more than one flat. With a written report and photos, everyone can plan from the same facts.
We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Photos show what each point refers to, and recommendations are put in order of urgency where relevant.

The survey, step by step
Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it’s applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes between one and two hours for most houses, and longer for a large or complex roof. For a visit in Queen's Park, parking and access are the things to plan: let us know about parking, the floor the property is on, any shared entrance and loft access. We then look at whatever is safely visible from ground level, windows, the loft and, where it is safe, the roof itself.
- You let us know where you’ve seen overflows, drips or damp.
- We walk round the building and check the gutters, downpipes and fascias from the ground.
- Valleys, parapets and box gutters are inspected where they can safely be seen.
- Where it is safe, we check the loft for signs of water.
- You receive a report with photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the building owner or managing agent
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Leave side gates unlocked
How to book

How the survey changes by roof type
Lead-lined valley and parapet gutters
Many older homes have lead-lined valley and parapet gutters. Splits and failed joints in the lead can let water straight in.
Cast iron gutters
Lots of period homes still have cast iron rainwater goods. They last well when painted, but rust where the paint fails.
What we cannot see
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- Asbestos testing of old gutters, downpipes or soffits
- Parts of gutters that cannot be seen safely
- The inside of buried drains
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.

FAQs for Queen's Park
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Queen's Park?
Sometimes, yes. If Queen's Park has controlled parking where you are, a visitor permit is the easiest answer.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Queen's Park?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
How long does a gutter survey take?
For a house, expect about 1–2 hours on site, with commercial buildings nearer 3–4 hours.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Where it is applicable and safe, yes. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
How fast do I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline when you book.
Do you work in Queen's Park?
Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and that includes Queen's Park.
Will you check if gutters are causing damp inside?
Leaking gutters and downpipes are a common cause of damp walls, and we check for exactly that. If the evidence points elsewhere, we will say so, based on what we can see.
Roofs, chimneys and gutters in Queen's Park
Welsh slate on Victorian and Edwardian terraces is a familiar sight across inner London. A butterfly roof with a central valley gutter, tucked behind a parapet wall, is common on these houses. In a house like that, shared stacks, party-wall upstands and lead flashings all need looking at as far as they can be seen. Each of these coverings has its own weak points, from fixings and valleys to flashings, chimneys and gutters. Winfield House, about 1.7 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Queen's Park. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
If you live near a park such as Queen’s Park, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls. Landlords with a home close to Queens Park (London) station may find that a roof report helps you deal with small faults before they turn into a call from a tenant.

Common roof problems in Queen's Park
Many people get in touch after seeing water pour over a gutter in heavy rain. Others notice a damp wall, a stained ceiling or a green streak down the brickwork. A survey helps show where the water is coming from before more damage is done.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Gutters packed with leaves or moss
- Overflowing valley or parapet gutters
- Leaking or loose downpipes
- Sagging gutters and loose brackets
If you run a business near O2 Centre, a dated report on the roof is useful for planning and for any lease discussions.
Before you book anyone

- Whether you get a written report with photos
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
