Landlord roof surveys for homes and businesses in Nag's Head
Our landlord roof survey gives you a clear picture of a roof’s condition, written up so you can plan. Landlords, letting agents, managing agents and freeholders all use it along with RTM and residents’ management companies. You get a written report with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency where relevant. It’s a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or 3 survey of the whole building. If you’re worried about blocked gutters over flats and chimney stacks in poor repair, we can find out what’s behind it.
London has Victorian and Edwardian terraces in almost every borough, many with Welsh slate roofs, shared chimney stacks and parapet or valley gutters. Slates can last a century or more, but the nails holding them corrode, and slates slip. In Nag's Head, as across London, that is why a roof needs a careful look rather than a glance from the street. Shared chimney stacks and the lead around them are just as important to check.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

What happens on the day
A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photos as we go and make notes for the report. It normally takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. From the street, a London terrace normally shows only its front slope or parapet, so a visit in Nag's Head moves between viewpoints: the pavement, upstairs windows, the loft and any safe spot at the back. If other people live in the building, tell us who can let us into the shared parts.
- We agree which roofs and which parts of the building are included.
- You or your agent arrange access to the loft space and any flats we need to enter.
- Each roof is checked as far as it can be seen safely, including from inside where possible.
- Defects are photographed and their urgency noted.
- The report sets out condition and recommendations to help you plan.
How to prepare
- Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the building owner or managing agent

FAQs for Nag's Head
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Nag's Head?
It rarely stops a survey, but it’s worth planning. Let us know the parking rules on your street and we will work around them.
Can a landlord with a rental near Drayton Park station book a roof survey?
Yes, rented property is part of what we cover. You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and some details, including who will give access on the day.
Do you use drones?
Where it helps and it is safe, yes. Flights depend on the weather on the day and airspace rules, and we check for restrictions near airports before flying. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, with 98% customer satisfaction.
Is the report suitable for a maintenance plan?
Yes, that’s one of the main reasons clients book. A repeat survey later shows how the roof has changed, which suits a rolling plan.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that in advance, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.
What insurance do you have?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

Roofs, chimneys and gutters in Nag's Head
About 1.7 miles north-west lies Witanhurst, a reminder of how long the area around Nag's Head has been built on. Older homes in the wider area frequently have features worth a closer look, like lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years. Inner London’s Victorian and Edwardian terraces frequently have Welsh slate roofs. Many have butterfly roofs draining to a central valley gutter, with parapet walls and gutters hidden behind them. Shared chimney stacks, party-wall upstands and lead work come with this kind of house. Knowing the covering helps explain which parts of a roof are likely to need work first.
Trees in and around Whittington Park shed leaves that can end up in nearby gutters, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Grafton Primary School, a written record of a large roof helps plan work for the holidays rather than in term time.

If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed in advance. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which can make access easier.
Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with the freeholder or managing agent. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the visit with that in mind.
Common roof problems in Nag's Head
Reports of leaks or damp from tenants often lead to a survey. We check whether the roof or rainwater system is the likely cause from what’s visible.
Signs worth acting on include:
- Cracked or lifting flashings
- Cracked or leaning shared chimneys
- Parapets and upstands in poor repair
- Leaks into upper flats
Landlords with a home close to Drayton Park station may find that a dated record of the roof is useful when planning maintenance across a let.
Questions to ask before you book
- What insurance they carry
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
- What the survey will not cover
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
Honest limits
To be straight with you, a roof survey has limits:
- Roof areas we weren’t given access to
- Responsibility under a lease
- Confirming asbestos in older roof materials
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you before you book. What our survey covers.
What we look at
- Shared roofs
- Rented houses
- Gutters and downpipes
- Converted houses
- Blocks of flats
- Flat roofs on blocks
Leave it or get it looked at?
On a shared roof, disagreements are easier to settle with a clear record. Without a survey, it is one opinion against another. London’s older roofs often have bitumen felt underlay or none at all, so a slipped slate can soon mean water inside. Left alone, that means wet timbers and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the roof fault itself.
