Roof survey in Littleton
We survey roofs in Littleton and across London and South East England. Visits run on any day of the week. We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and bring 20+ years’ experience. You get a written report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. Houses, flats and commercial buildings all follow the same careful process. To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or send us an email. Common reasons to book are lifted, split or missing lead flashings and cracked mortar along the ridge, on flat roofs, chimney stacks and lead flashings.
Village roofs often face open fields and take the full force of wind and rain, so ridges, chimney stacks, flashings and gutters work hard. Damp in old walls is slow to dry, so a small leak can do a lot of harm. A written report sets out what to deal with and in what order. On exposed older roofs, chimneys and lead flashings are often the first to give way.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. We confirm the price for your roof before you book.
Helping us price your survey
The more you let us know, the easier it is to price the survey. When you contact us, it helps to mention:
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel

FAQs for Littleton
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Littleton?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Do you cover smaller places like Littleton?
Yes, Littleton is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We will talk about access when you book.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, once access has been agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so whoever owns or manages the building needs to agree access. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof, so it sits alongside a building survey rather than replacing it.
Do you give a life expectancy for the roof?
Not as an exact number, since the fixings, underlay and maintenance all play a part. Instead, we set out what’s sound, what’s wearing and what to do first.
What we do, step by step
Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. Most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours at most homes, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. In a hamlet or village like Littleton, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We help you choose a Basic, Standard or Premium Survey.
- We arrive at the agreed time and talk through any concerns.
- We inspect and photograph every part of the roof we can safely see.
- Moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging or a drone are added where your package includes them.
- The report is emailed with findings and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

Related advice
Leave it or get it looked at?
Valley gutters and parapet gutters are out of sight until they overflow. An overflow there sends water indoors. A survey checks them while they’re still dry. In a place like Littleton, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. It’s worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 with VAT included. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

What you can safely check yourself
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

- An exact number of years the roof has left

Roof surveys around Littleton
If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying. If your home is older, it is worth knowing whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area.
The streets around a church such as Church of St Catherine are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look. If you own a rental within reach of Winchester station, a dated record of the roof is useful when planning maintenance across a let. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Harestock Primary School, long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle.
