About our roof survey in North Wembley
We survey roofs in North Wembley and across London and the South East. We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. We’re insured for professional indemnity and public liability, and bring 20+ years’ experience. Each survey ends with a written report, emailed with photographs and recommendations. Whether it’s a house, a flat or a commercial building, the process is the same. To arrange a survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We’re often asked to look into slates or tiles that have slipped or broken and water stains on rafters and ceiling joists, on chimney stacks, the roof space and lead flashings.
London has a great many flats in converted houses and purpose-built blocks, so roofs are often shared between several households. Whoever looks after the building needs a clear picture of the roof, chimneys and gutters. Leaks from a shared roof rarely affect just one home. With a written report and photos, everyone can plan from the same facts.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent.

Leave it or get it looked at?
Many roofs go years without anyone looking at them closely. Our report gives you a record of how the roof is today, which makes later changes easy to spot. In North Wembley, as in much of London, water from a roof defect can reach a neighbour’s home as easily as yours: a blocked parapet gutter or slipped slate can let water into the flat below or the house next door. Dealing with it early is far less disruptive.
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Roof survey starts from £150, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

Roofs, chimneys and gutters in North Wembley
If your survey includes the drone, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. Knowing the covering helps explain which parts of a roof are likely to need work first.
Landlords with a home close to Wembley Central station may find that a roof report between tenancies helps plan work before a small defect becomes a tenant’s leak. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Park Lane Primary School, long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle. Historic houses like Northolt Manor, about 2.9 miles west, show how far back building around North Wembley goes. Older roofs nearby often mix original materials with later repairs, and the survey shows where each one is.

North Wembley: your questions answered
Can you fly a drone over a roof in North Wembley?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
Is my home in North Wembley listed or in a conservation area?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Will you climb onto the roof?
When the roof and the conditions make it safe, yes. Many roofs can be seen well from windows, vantage points and the loft, and Premium includes a drone where applicable.
How many surveys have you done?
We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys.
How long will you be at the property?
Allow about one to two hours for a house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. We’ll confirm what to expect when we arrange the visit.
Can you survey in bad weather?
It can, depending on the survey. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. If the conditions aren’t right, we’ll talk to you about another date.
Do I need to be at home?
Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that in advance, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.
How it works
Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it’s applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes between one and two hours for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are. Many London properties are flats or terraces with no side access, so the back of the roof is often seen from upstairs windows, from inside or, where a flight is allowed, from the air. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, tell us when you book.
- You tell us about the property and any concerns.
- We agree a date, on a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- We look at the roof from each safe vantage point, inside and out.
- We check the coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters, and photograph what we find.
- Your report arrives by email, with recommendations prioritised by urgency.
Getting ready for the survey
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street

DIY checks: what’s safe
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date.
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
Before and after the survey
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:
- Keep the report with your property records
- Find records of any re-roofing or repairs
- Don’t climb onto the roof yourself
- Photograph stains when they appear
Standard includes a follow-up consultation to talk the findings through, while Premium includes a consultation in person. It’s a chance to ask questions about anything in the report.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. Look for water marks, damp wood and chinks of light. Photograph anything new.
