Thermal roof surveys around North Camp
Farnborough Airport is about 2 miles from North Camp. If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.
Farnham Castle, about 4.8 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around North Camp. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself. If you run a business near Hart Shopping Centre, big, flat commercial roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images help most. For an older house near a landmark such as St Mark, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
North Camp is about 1 mile south-east of Farnborough, in Hampshire. Bookings from North Camp are handled just like any other: a call or an email, a price, then a date. Our area takes in places right across Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages. Guildford is in our area too.
We survey roofs across GU14 and GU11 for thermal roof surveys. Streets in the area include Rae Road, Etps Road and Camp Road, and we cover them all. Being close to the A3011, North Camp is easy for us to reach. Larger places within reach include Basingstoke (15 miles west), Fleet (4 miles west), Alton (13 miles south-west), Yateley (5 miles north-west), Bordon (12 miles south-west) and Hook (9 miles west).

Thermal roof survey in North Camp
A thermal camera can help when the cause of damp isn’t obvious. Leaks frequently run along a roof before they appear on a ceiling, and temperature patterns can help us trace where it may have come from. The images are used alongside a visual inspection and moisture readings, so no conclusion rests on one method alone. We survey insulated roof spaces, flat roofs and ceilings below the roof, and people most often book us about damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys and leaks far from where the stain appears.
Around North Camp, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.
The report doesn’t just list problems. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend.

Useful tips for North Camp property owners
Small things make a difference. Our tips:
- Keep a record of when stains appear
- Keep outlets and gutters clear to stop water sitting
- Don’t switch the heating off before the visit
- Use the report as a baseline for later checks
The report explains the conditions on the day and how they affected the images. It helps you judge how firm each finding is.
Keep an eye on ceilings under the roof for new stains. Early action keeps insulation from staying wet.
What affects the price in North Camp
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.
Helping us price your survey
You do not need to know any roofing terms. Just tell us:
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- What kind of property and roof it is
When you are ready to go ahead, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. From there it’s a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day.

What else we do in North Camp
DIY checks: what’s safe
You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
It is useful to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us as you book.
Common questions in North Camp
Are there drone restrictions around North Camp?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. North Camp is about 2 miles from Farnborough Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather, and the rest of the survey doesn’t depend on the drone.
Will you come out to North Camp?
Yes. North Camp is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only if it is safe. We inspect what can be seen safely: from the ground, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you as you book.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We point out what can be seen, such as sagging or deflection, but we don’t carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
How much does a thermal roof survey cost?
Our Premium Survey, from £400, includes thermal imaging. An in-person consultation and a follow-up 12 months later are included too. For bigger commercial roofs, we quote on size.
Different roofs, different checks
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
Thin membranes can show patterns from the layers beneath. Reflections from shiny surfaces can affect readings, which we allow for.
Loft insulation
Insulation often gets moved during work in the loft. The camera can show where it no longer covers the ceiling.
What happens on the day
On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that is worrying you. After that, we look at everything we can see safely, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. Most surveys take between one and two hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Parking around North Camp is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can often be seen well from ground level, and the loft shows the rest, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where applicable.
- We talk through the roof, any damp or leaks, and the weather expected on the day.
- We carry out a visual inspection of the roof from wherever it can be seen safely.
- A thermal camera records how the surface temperature varies across the roof.
- Areas that look unusual on the camera are checked with moisture readings where possible.
- The report sets out the images, what they suggest and what we recommend.
Before we arrive
