Thermal roof survey in Paddock
Thermal imaging is part of our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. It also includes a drone inspection where applicable, a structural analysis and a same-day report. An in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up are included too. To book, just ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and what you’ve noticed. For big commercial roofs, we quote on size and access. Common reasons to book are wet insulation beneath the membrane and moisture around outlets and upstands, on pitched roof slopes, commercial roofs and ceilings below the roof.
In a village or hamlet like Paddock, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

What affects the price in Paddock
To price your survey, we check:
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all including VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
Booking your survey
Getting the details right at the start saves time. It is useful to include:
- Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
- What made you get in touch
Every survey is priced before it’s booked, so you know the cost up front. Our price is from £400, including VAT. To book, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.
What a thermal roof survey doesn’t cover
In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough
- Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
- A formal energy assessment
If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer before booking. The full list of what we check.

Common questions in Paddock
Do you carry out roof surveys in Paddock?
We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Paddock?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Which survey includes thermal imaging?
Our Premium Survey, from £400, includes thermal imaging. An in-person consultation and a follow-up 12 months later are included too. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it does not include calculations. We’ll recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Just say which days work for you.
How long is the visit?
Time on site depends on the roof, but most surveys take an hour or two on an ordinary house, and more on a big or complicated roof. The written report follows by email.
Does someone need to be in?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
Why act early in Paddock
Buyers get extra information from thermal images that the eye can miss. Finding hidden moisture before exchange gives you facts to raise with the seller. Older and listed buildings around Paddock may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.
Why book with us
- Over 5,000 surveys carried out

What happens on the day
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. The inspection then takes roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. In a hamlet or village like Paddock, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start with the roof, its history and any signs of damp or heat loss.
- The weather and surface conditions are recorded.
- A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.
How to prepare
- For flats, check roof access has been agreed
- Let us know about parking near the property
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Thermal roof surveys around Paddock
Across Kent, older roofs are often handmade clay or peg tiles, and tile-hanging on upper walls is a familiar sight. You’ll also find oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses among the county’s older buildings. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. If your survey includes the drone, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
Take an older house close to Church of St Cosmas and St Damian: thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. Historic houses such as Belmont House and Gardens, about 3.8 miles north, show how far back building around Paddock goes. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself. If you look after a building like Challock Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
Paddock is about 5 miles north of Ashford, in Kent. We provide thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Paddock and nearby. Our Kent coverage includes Paddock and the places around it. There’s also a page for Canterbury.

Useful tips for Paddock property owners
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:
- Photograph damp patches with the date
- Keep a record of when stains appear
- Talk to us about the weather when booking
- Clear a path to the loft hatch before we arrive
The report explains the conditions on the day and how they affected the images. That way you know how much weight to give each finding.
Clear outlets and gutters regularly, so water does not sit on the roof. Less standing water means less chance of it getting under the covering.

DIY checks: what’s safe
You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.
