Thermal imaging roof survey in Stockwell, Greater London
A careful look at the roof at your property in Stockwell, with photographs and a written report.
- Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
- Damp patches with no obvious cause
- Leaks far from where the stain appears
Thermal roof survey in Stockwell: what you get
Our Premium Survey, from £400, brings together a full roof inspection and thermal imaging. You also get a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day. An in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up are included too. To book, just ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and what you’ve noticed. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size. Typical surveys look at heat escaping through the roof and damp around roof outlets and upstands, on ceilings below the roof, flat roofs and commercial roofs.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every address in Stockwell is checked before any drone flight, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.
Where we cannot see part of the roof, the report says so. That way, it is clear what was covered and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

The survey, step by step
We look at the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the roof space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey usually takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. In Stockwell, as in much of London, lots of properties are flats or terraces without side access, so the back of the roof is frequently seen from upstairs windows, from inside or, where a flight is allowed, from the air. Mention any building rules, key holders or managing agents as you book.
- We start with the roof, its history and any signs of damp or heat loss.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.
Preparing for the visit
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Clear the way to the loft hatch

Signs you need a thermal roof survey in Stockwell
After a long-running leak, insulation under a flat roof can stay wet. Knowing how much of the roof is affected helps decide between a local repair and more. A thermal survey, checked with moisture readings, can give a much clearer picture.
We’re often asked to look at:
- Water getting in at parapets and stacks
- Water that travels before it shows
- Damp around roof outlets and upstands
- Missing or slipped insulation
Anyone responsible for a site like St Andrew's Church of England Primary School will know that big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.

Surveys for landlords and agents in Stockwell
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.
We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords. Bigger roofs take more time.
Prices for thermal roof surveys in Stockwell
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.
What to let us know when you get in touch
Some details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you contact us, let us know:
- What made you get in touch
- The property’s address and postcode
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
We confirm the price for the job before booking, so you know the cost up front. Thermal roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. For a price for your roof, call 07833 053749 or email us.
Can I check my roof myself?
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
FAQs for Stockwell
Is parking a problem for a survey in Stockwell?
Sometimes, yes. Where there are permit zones, a visitor permit or nearby pay-and-display bay works well.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Stockwell?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Stockwell is about 1 mile from the edge of the flight restriction zone around London Heliport in Battersea. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, though the rest of the survey goes ahead either way.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Tell us about it when booking and we’ll explain what’s needed.
How many surveys have you done?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years.
What do I do with the report?
You’ll receive the report by email, and you decide the next step: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.
Can thermal imaging show missing insulation?
Gaps and thin areas of insulation can show up on the camera. The difference is clearest when the building is heated and it’s colder outside. We look from the loft as well, where there’s safe access.
Will I get photos?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found.
Airspace, weather and Stockwell roofs
Stockwell is about 1 mile from the edge of the flight restriction zone around London Heliport in Battersea. If your survey includes the drone, the exact boundary is checked for the address first. Within a mile and a half or so of Stockwell there are several hotels. For hotels and other commercial buildings, large roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.
For an older house near a landmark such as St. Andrew's, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Historic houses such as Carlyle's House, about 2.4 miles north-west, show how far back building around Stockwell goes. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself.
Stockwell is about 2 miles south-west of London, in Greater London. We carry out thermal roof surveys in Stockwell for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings. Our Greater London coverage includes Stockwell and the places around it.
Every address in SW9, SW4 and SW8 is covered for thermal roof surveys. You will find streets such as Kay Road, West Road and Cato Road, and we cover them all. You will find Stockwell on the A203 and A2217, which makes it simple to reach. If you’re just outside Stockwell, we cover Little Portugal (1 mile north), Angell Town (1 mile east), North Brixton (1 mile north-east), South Lambeth (1 mile north) and Clapham (1 mile west). Larger places within reach include City of Westminster (3 miles north-west), Marylebone (4 miles north), Kensington (4 miles north-west), St Pancras (4 miles north), Shoreditch (4 miles north-east) and Walthamstow (9 miles north-east).
Landmarks near Stockwell
Typical jobs here are in homes near Max Roach Park, Lansdowne School and The Marquess Of Lorne Public House, among other places. For rail, the closest station is Brixton station, about 0.5 miles south-east. Well-known places in the area include Gabriel's Wharf (2.8 miles north) and Baynard's Castle (3.1 miles north). For a walk, there’s Knight's Hill and Centre for Wildlife Gardening.
Why get it checked now?
Repeated repairs that don’t stop a leak are a sign the source hasn’t been traced. Combining the camera with moisture readings can help find it, rather than more guesswork. In a London terrace or conversion, a roof defect rarely stays your problem alone: failed flashings and blocked valley gutters can send water into more than one home. Finding it early keeps the work smaller.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
