Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Belmont

Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We’ll tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you are worried about vegetation in valleys and gutters and cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.

London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every address in Belmont is checked before any drone flight, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.

Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Useful tips for Belmont property owners

Small things make a difference, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:

  • Tell us the exact address as you book
  • Make sure there is room outside for the drone to take off
  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Let us know what you want to see

File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.

After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone survey can show what has shifted.

Honest limits

Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:

  • Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission

If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

Drone roof surveys around Belmont

In outer London, interwar semis with hipped, tiled roofs sit alongside older slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. Headstone Manor, about 1.6 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Belmont. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Anselm, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. If you run a business near St. Anns, big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most.

Belmont is about 1 mile south-west of Stanmore, in Greater London. We survey roofs in Belmont and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and the South East. Our Greater London coverage includes Belmont. London is in our area too.

Further out, we also cover London (12 miles south-east), City of Westminster (9 miles south-east), Marylebone (9 miles south-east), Kensington (9 miles south-east), St Pancras (10 miles south-east) and Shoreditch (12 miles south-east).

Roof by roof

Chimney stacks

The drone shows the outside of the stack, and it is not a flue or gas safety check. We will say if a specialist is needed.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Widespread slipping on slate normally means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

For landlords and managing agents

Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.

Belmont questions

Is parking a problem for a survey in Belmont?

It rarely stops a survey, but it is worth planning. Let us know what parking is available nearby, and the visit is planned around it.

Are there drone restrictions around Belmont?

Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. Where a material might contain it, like old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. It is a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof, so it sits alongside a building survey rather than replacing it.

What does the report include?

It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely.

What if it rains on the day?

Light rain is usually fine; heavy rain and wind are different. Strong wind or heavy rain can make access unsafe and ground a drone, and we’d agree another day.

What does a roof survey cost?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before you book. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Common roof problems in Belmont

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

We’re often asked to look at:

  • Loose ridge and hip tiles
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
  • Flashings that have come away
  • Hidden gutters full of leaves

Take a building like St Joseph's Catholic Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Before booking any roof surveyor

  • Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
  • What the survey will not cover

What to expect from a roof survey

What we do, step by step

We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect whatever is safely visible, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey normally takes an hour or two on an ordinary house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. London terraces rarely offer a view of the whole roof from one spot, so a visit in Belmont moves between viewpoints: the pavement, upstairs windows, the loft and any safe spot at the back. Shared stairs or a basement flat? Tell us who holds the keys.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Note where any stains or damp appear
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
