Drone roof survey in Bexley Riverside
Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. We survey tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and chimney stacks, and people most often book us about cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and moss building up on slopes and in gutters.
London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. Images are taken to show the roof we are surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building when booking. Steep slopes, tall chimneys and rear additions are where the extra view helps most.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent.

The survey, step by step
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes about 1–2 hours at a typical home, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. For a visit in Bexley Riverside, parking and access are the things to plan: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space, which floor the property is on and how to get into the loft. We then look at everything that’s safely in view from the ground, windows, the loft and, where it is safe, the roof itself.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- If you’re buying, let the agent know when we’re coming
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at

How we price drone roof surveys
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- Basic, Standard or Premium
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
Every price we give includes VAT. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You will know the price for your survey before booking.
What to let us know when you contact us
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine. To send them or to book, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Checking the roof from the ground
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
What a drone roof survey looks like in Bexley Riverside
Outer London has lots of Victorian and Edwardian terraces with slate roofs, but also a great many interwar semis, frequently with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles. If your home in Bexley Riverside is one of them, bay roofs, hips and later dormers each have their own details. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight.
Take an older house close to St Paul's: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. As a London address, Bexley Riverside can be tricky for parking: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space as you book. If you look after a building such as Normandy Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Bexley Riverside
How do I find out if my home in Bexley Riverside is listed?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Bexley Riverside?
It can be, so it is useful to let us know about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book. The visit is then planned around what’s available.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
When does the report arrive?
Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, let us know when booking.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only if it is safe. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from the ground, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
Is your drone operator registered?
Yes. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We fly a sub-250g drone and follow the drone code.
How long does a drone roof survey take?
Typically, it takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. That includes checking the site and the weather before take-off.
Before and after the survey
There’s plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Let us know the exact address when you book
You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that is not clear.
Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.
How the survey changes by roof type
Ridges and hips
Wind lifts loose ridge and hip tiles. Spotting them early stops them falling.
Chimney stacks
The top of a stack is normally out of view. Close-up photos show the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings, so cracks and gaps are clear.
What we can’t see
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- Flights in strong wind or a downpour
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
- Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you before booking. The full list of what we check.
