Erith Drone Roof Survey
We carry out drone roof surveys in Erith and the rest of Greater London. Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends.
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
The survey, step by step
Before we start, let us know why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. That way we can focus on what matters to you. Most visits take between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In converted houses and mansion blocks, the loft hatch is often on a shared landing. Where that is the case, access needs agreeing with whoever controls that landing. Everything else is planned around the building, not the postcode.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Tell us where we can park nearby
- If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Keep pets in another room

How a drone roof survey works in Erith
Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. We’ll tell you if another approach would work better. We are frequently asked to look into storm damage on steep or tall roofs and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, across valleys and parapet gutters, fragile roofs and chimney stacks.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Before a drone goes up in Erith, the address is checked against all of them, and permission is never taken for granted.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets. You will see the good as well as the bad.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client, photos included.
Shared roofs need a little more planning: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when you book and we’ll plan the visit with that in mind.
Checking the roof from the ground
It’s useful to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.
Practical tips
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
- Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
- Make sure there’s room outside for the drone to take off
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to talk through the photographs and findings. You can ask about anything that is not clear.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Take photos of any changes.
Drone roof surveys around Erith
The flight restriction zone around London City Airport comes within about 2 miles of Erith. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
With Hall Place and Gardens about 2.3 miles south, the area around Erith has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. Erith is in London, so parking needs planning: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book. Take a building like Christ Church (Erith) CofE Primary School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Erith: your questions answered
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Erith?
It rarely stops a survey, but it’s worth planning. Let us know the parking rules on your street and we’ll work around them.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Erith?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. The flight restriction zone around London City Airport comes within about 2 miles of Erith. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
How soon will I get the report?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Erith?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. You will know the price for the job before booking, based on the roof’s size, access and package. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
What does the report include?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, finishing with recommendations. The most urgent items are made clear.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it doesn’t include calculations. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
Do you cover Erith?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, Erith included.
What we look for on each type of roof
Large commercial roofs
Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically, so nothing is skipped.
Chimney stacks
Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. We record what we find with photos.
