About our drone roof survey in Brentford
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it cannot see inside. Where there’s safe access, we look in the roof space too, because the underside tells its own story. Together, the two give a fuller picture. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. Where the loft can’t be reached safely, we note it. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and loose ridge and hip tiles.
London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. Images are taken to show the roof we are surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy. Let us know about the building and access as you book. Steep slopes, tall chimneys and rear additions are where the extra view helps most.
It isn’t only a list of defects. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

Why get it checked now?
Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. You can show exactly where the problem is. A hidden valley or parapet gutter on a London house can hold water for weeks before anyone notices. When the stain finally shows, the damage underneath is frequently older than it looks.
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how safely it can be seen. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT.

The survey, step by step
After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a photo-illustrated written report, emailed to you. On timing, most surveys take an hour or two for a house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. From the street, a London terrace usually shows only its front slope or parapet, so a visit in Brentford moves between viewpoints: the pavement, upstairs windows, the loft and any safe spot at the back. If other people live in the building, let us know who can let us into the shared parts.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- Find any records of previous roof work
How to book
Our price is from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the details.
Advice
Brentford questions
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Brentford?
It depends on the street. If Brentford has controlled parking where you are, a visitor permit is the easiest answer, and a driveway is even better.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Brentford?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
What insurance do you have?
We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
How experienced are you?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.
How soon will I get the report?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed.
Do drone rules differ in central London?
It depends where in central London. Restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs need NATS permission before a flight. We check each address first.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you when you book.
DIY checks: what’s safe
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
Flying and imaging in Brentford
About 0.5 miles south-east lies Kew Palace, a reminder of how long the area around Brentford has been built on. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, like lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Within a mile and a half or so of Brentford there are several hotels, and like offices and blocks, hotels often sit under flat roofs. For hotels and other commercial buildings, large roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.
If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near Congregational Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. For a London address like Brentford, it helps to know about controlled parking before the day, along with any off-street space. Anyone responsible for a site like St Paul's CofE Primary School will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

What we look for on each type of roof
Valleys and parapet gutters
When a parapet outlet blocks, water can come inside. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, and it is not a flue or gas safety check. We’ll say if a specialist is needed.
