Drone roof survey in Spring Grove

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. Typical surveys look at coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, on fragile roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks.

London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. We take care to focus on the roof we have been asked to look at. Tell us about the building and access when you book. Steep slopes, tall chimneys and rear additions are where the extra view helps most.

Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, along with how urgent it is.

What we’re asked to look at in Spring Grove

Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Older slates and tiles break easily, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

Typical things we are asked to look at include:

  • Chimney tops in poor condition
  • Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
  • Lifted or split lead flashings
  • Standing water on a flat roof

Shop and office owners around Treaty Centre may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
  • What insurance they carry
  • What the survey will not cover

What to expect from a roof survey

DIY checks: what’s safe

You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

Drone roof surveys around Spring Grove

The flight restriction zone around Heathrow Airport comes within about 1 mile of Spring Grove. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

Hotels and guest houses near Spring Grove can’t easily close rooms for a leak. For an older house near a landmark such as St Mary's Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

What a survey costs

A few things affect what a survey costs:

  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages

We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

What we need to know

We’ll normally ask about:

  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • What kind of property and roof it is

Getting a price is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email, let us know about the property and we will explain which survey suits. The price is agreed up front.

Common questions in Spring Grove

Are there drone restrictions around Spring Grove?

Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. The flight restriction zone around Heathrow Airport comes within about 1 mile of Spring Grove. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Can parking be tricky for a visit in Spring Grove?

Parking in Spring Grove, as in most of London, takes a little planning: a visitor permit or a bay close to the door helps a lot.

When does the report arrive?

It depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.

What if it rains on the day?

A survey can typically go ahead in light rain, and it can even help show where water is getting in. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so we will agree a new date if the weather isn’t suitable.

How long will you be at the property?

Expect it to take about one to two hours for most houses, and more on a big or complicated roof. The written report follows by email, on the timescale of your package.

Is Spring Grove in your area?

Yes, we do. Spring Grove is part of the area we cover, and the service is the same as everywhere else we work.

What happens next?

You’ll receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Spring Grove

Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is. Behind a London parapet, a blocked gutter can sit full of water without anyone seeing it. By the time a ceiling stains, the timbers underneath may have been wet for a while.

Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all with VAT included. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Roof by roof

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.

Ridges and hips

Ridges may be bedded in mortar or mechanically fixed. We record what we see of their condition.

The survey, step by step

Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof, but as a rough guide the survey takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. If you have questions on the day, just ask. In Spring Grove, visits are available on weekdays and at weekends. London parking is frequently by permit or pay-and-display, so it’s useful to know what’s near you. Upstairs rooms at the back are useful too, as they often give the best view of a rear addition.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
