About roof surveys in TW7
Our report is written in plain English, not jargon. Each defect is described with photographs and a recommendation, and where it’s relevant we say what’s urgent and what can wait. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. Premium adds thermal imaging, a drone inspection where applicable and a same-day report. Each report is emailed to you. We are often asked to look into debris building up in roof valleys and slates or tiles that have slipped or broken, across ridges, hips and valleys, natural slate and the roof space.
On the day, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. We then inspect everything that can safely be seen, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. Most surveys take an hour or two at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours.
- We help you choose a Basic, Standard or Premium Survey.
- We arrive at the agreed time and talk through any concerns.
- We inspect and photograph every part of the roof we can safely see.
- Moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging or a drone are added where your package includes them.
- The report is emailed with findings and recommendations.

Local landmarks in Isleworth
Typical jobs here are in homes near The George Inn, Old Deer Park and Kneller Hall Junior School and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include St Mary's Catholic Primary School (less than half a mile south-east), Gumley House RC Convent School (within half a mile south-east) and Church of All Saints (0.5 miles east). There is a railway station in Isleworth itself: Isleworth station. A little further out are West Middlesex University Hospital (within half a mile north-east) and Museum of Army Music (1.4 miles south-west). For a walk, there is Richmond Hill and Kew Gardens Lake.
Roofs, chimneys and gutters across TW7
From Hounslow, Isleworth and St Margarets to smaller places, people across TW7 use a roof survey to plan ahead. Small faults, caught early, are far easier to deal with.
Our surveys reach from London out to Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, the Thames Valley, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, TW7 included. Visits run on weekdays and at weekends.
Isleworth: If you live near a park such as Old Deer Park, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys. If you own a rental within reach of Isleworth station, a roof report helps you deal with small faults before they turn into a call from a tenant.
Why get it checked now?
A small roof defect normally gets bigger. One slipped slate lets water reach the battens and underlay, and damp timber slowly weakens. Catching it early means less to put right.
Before booking any surveyor
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
- How long the report takes to arrive
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
Landlord and commercial surveys in TW7
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, and they’re priced for the size.
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed ahead of time. We survey seven days a week, which helps when tenants work during the week.
Why roofs fail
What’s under the slates or tiles is as important as the coverings themselves. Breathable membranes only appeared in the UK in the late 1990s, so older roofs often have bitumen felt, and very old ones may have none. Felt that has torn or perished stops doing its job.
Signs worth acting on include:
- Slates or tiles that have slipped or broken
- Ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs
- Loose chimney pots
- Loose ridge or hip tiles
What a survey does not cover
It is useful to know what a survey will not do before booking:
- Faults hidden behind ceilings or boarding
- A full building survey of the property
- Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
Different roofs, different checks
Lead flashings and valleys
Flashings close the joints where a roof meets a wall or chimney. Lifted, split or slipped lead is recorded, and for flashings replaced with mortar or bitumen.
Chimney stacks
Our chimney check is a visual inspection of the stack, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. We’ll tell you if the flue needs a specialist.
FAQs for TW7
What’s covered in a roof inspection?
Slates or tiles, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are all checked, plus the roof space where there’s safe access. The report includes photos and recommendations.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. This is a survey of the roof only, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where it’s applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.
Do you look in the roof space?
Typically, if there is one and it can be reached safely. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Not necessarily. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.
Is your survey a structural engineer’s report?
No. Where we see something that needs a structural engineer, the report says so. Our survey isn’t a structural engineer’s report.
