About roof surveys in TW8
We survey roofs in TW8 and across London and the South East. Visits run on weekdays and at weekends. We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Each survey ends with a written report, emailed with photos and recommendations. Houses, flats and commercial buildings all follow the same careful process. When you’re ready to book, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. Common reasons to book are loose chimney pots and water stains on rafters and ceiling joists, on lead flashings, natural slate and chimney stacks.
On the day, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely. The survey usually takes roughly 1–2 hours for an ordinary house roof, and longer if there are extensions, dormers or several chimneys.
- We help you choose a Basic, Standard or Premium Survey.
- On the day, we start by hearing what you’ve noticed.
- We inspect and photograph every part of the roof we can safely see.
- Extra checks are carried out where your package includes them.
- You get a written report with photos and clear recommendations.

Homes and roofs across TW8
From Brentford, Northfields and South Ealing to smaller places, people across TW8 use a roof survey to plan ahead. A report helps you sort small faults before they let water in.
Several airports in London and South East England have flight restriction zones around them, so every drone flight in TW8 is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Flights that need permission only go ahead once it’s given.
Brentford: For landlords with property near Brentford station, a roof report between tenancies helps plan work before a small defect becomes a tenant’s leak. Shop and office owners around Treaty Centre may find that a dated report on the roof is useful for planning and for any lease discussions.
Landlords, agents and block managers in TW8
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
We survey roofs for letting agents and landlords as well as householders. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photos, which helps you plan work between tenancies.
Can I check my roof myself?
It’s useful to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Leave it or get it looked at?
Leaving it means relying on what you can see from the ground. That can lead to the wrong work being done, or to a real problem being missed. We tell you what’s really needed.
What to check before booking
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- How long the report takes to arrive
- What happens after the report arrives
- Their track record with similar roofs
Signs you need a roof survey
What’s under the slates or tiles is as important as the coverings themselves. Breathable membranes only appeared in the UK in the late 1990s, so many older roofs have bitumen felt underlay, and some very old roofs have no underlay at all. Felt that has torn or perished stops doing its job.
Typical things we are asked to look at include:
- Leaning or weathered chimney stacks
- Loose ridge or hip tiles
- Slates or tiles that have slipped or broken
- Condensation or damp timbers in the loft
Honest limits
Every survey has limits, and we’d rather be clear about that before booking. Bear these in mind:
- Asbestos testing of any kind
- The condition of the rest of the building (that is a RICS home survey)
- A structural engineer’s report
Your questions about roof surveys in TW8
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that ahead of time, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.
How soon is the report ready?
Premium reports arrive the same day, Standard within 24 to 48 hours and Basic within 48 hours. Photos are included.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Where it helps and the rules allow, yes. Our sub-250g drone is flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.
Are you insured?
Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and details are available on request.
Do you need to get into the loft?
If there is a loft and safe access to it, yes. The roof space can show things the outside cannot, such as damp timbers, staining or daylight.
Is your survey a structural engineer’s report?
No. If we see signs that need an engineer, such as serious sagging, we’ll say so. We don’t provide structural calculations.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so the freeholder or managing agent needs to agree access. We can only inspect what we are given access to.
