About our drone roof survey in Dagenham Dock
Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail. Everything we find goes into a written report with photographs. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. Where a flight is not possible, we explain why. Typical surveys look at outlets choked with leaves and silt and slipped or missing slates on a high roof, on valleys and parapet gutters, tall and steep roofs and chimney stacks.
London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every address in Dagenham Dock is checked before any drone flight, and permission is never taken for granted.
Where we cannot see part of the roof, the report says so. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Flying and imaging in Dagenham Dock
The flight restriction zone around London City Airport comes within about 1 mile of Dagenham Dock. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. In outer London, interwar semis with hipped, tiled roofs sit alongside older slate-roofed terraces. On a semi of that age, the small roofs over the bays, the hip tiles and any later dormer each need their own look. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.
Take an older house close to St Martin's Church: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. Eastbury Manor House lies about 2.1 miles north-west, so building around Dagenham Dock goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself.

No survey can tell you everything, and it’s better to know them up front. Bear these in mind:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads

When to book a survey in Dagenham Dock
Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the surface area by area, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
As a London address, Dagenham Dock can be tricky for parking: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day easier, as a space near the door cannot be promised.
Before you book any roof surveyor

- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- What’s outside the scope of the survey
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
Prices for drone roof surveys in Dagenham Dock
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
- The shape of the roof and its details
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- The size of the roof
Our price is from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, access and the package you choose.
Getting in touch
There’s no need for technical words. It’s enough to tell us:
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- What made you get in touch
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, and you can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email to find out.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By that stage the damage has spread inside. A drone survey finds them sooner. In Dagenham Dock, as in much of London, water from a roof defect can reach a neighbour’s home as easily as yours: failed flashings and blocked valley gutters can send water into more than one home. Dealing with it early is far less disruptive.
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

The survey, step by step
Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof; as a rough guide, the survey takes between one and two hours for a house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. If you have questions on the day, just ask. In a London conversion, the way into the roof space is frequently from a communal landing or the top flat. Where that’s the case, access needs agreeing with whoever controls that landing. Otherwise, the visit in Dagenham Dock runs like any other.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we’re coming
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building

Advice
Different roofs, different checks
Large commercial roofs
Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.
Valleys and parapet gutters
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You cannot see it from the street at all, but a drone shows it clearly.
