Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Goodmayes

Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or isn’t safe. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. Ahead of the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. If a drone is not the right tool, we will say so. We survey large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and fragile roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are chimney tops in poor condition and standing water on a flat roof.

Many London roofs are hidden from the pavement: valley gutters behind parapets, dormers and flat-roofed rear additions. That’s where a view from the air or a thermal camera helps, by showing what cannot be reached safely. The weather decides the day: both drones and thermal cameras need the right conditions. Thermal images show surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

How we price drone roof surveys

Prices always include VAT. What changes the price is:

  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • Roof area
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • Basic, Standard or Premium

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, access and the package you choose.

What to tell us when you contact us

We will typically ask about:

  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To arrange a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and the days you’d prefer.

Different roofs, different checks

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It’s almost impossible to see from the ground, but a drone shows it clearly.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Leaks often start at outlets, edges and around plant. They’re all captured in close-up, as far as the flight allows.

Drone roof surveys around Goodmayes

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

Parking in Goodmayes, as in most of London, takes a little planning: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day easier, as a space near the door cannot be promised. If you live in an older home near Church of All Saints, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Goodmayes

The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. Close-up drone photos show their condition.

It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:

  • Wind damage high on the roof
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Plant growth and moss on the roof
  • Blocked valleys and parapet gutters

Anyone responsible for a site like Goodmayes Primary School will know that thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • Whether you get a written report with photos
  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • What follow-up you get after the report

What to expect from a roof survey

How it works

We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect what can be seen safely, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey normally takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. London terraces rarely offer a view of the whole roof from one spot, so in Goodmayes we work round the house, using the street, the windows, the loft and any safe vantage point behind it. If other people live in the building, tell us who can let us into the shared parts.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Find any records of previous roof work
  • If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared

What a drone roof survey does not cover

A survey is a proper look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. Its limits include:

  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
  • Flights in strong wind or a downpour

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Fragile roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Before and after the survey

Nothing here needs a ladder. Our suggestions:

  • Check the loft can be reached
  • Let us know the exact address as you book
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet

The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up, and it is something only an inside check will show. Make sure insulation doesn’t block the airflow.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Goodmayes

Is parking a problem for a survey in Goodmayes?

London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway when you book. The visit is then planned around what’s available.

Is my home in Goodmayes listed or in a conservation area?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Is Goodmayes in your area?

Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and that includes Goodmayes.

Will you photograph what you find?

Yes, every report has them. Pictures sit next to the findings they show.

Does the weather affect a drone survey?

The flight waits for better weather. Wind and heavy rain are the two things that ground a small drone, so we’d move the date with you.

Will you photograph next door’s garden?

Privacy is taken seriously on every flight. The camera is pointed at your roof, not next door. It’s worth telling neighbours about the flight.

Can a drone see inside my loft?

No. The drone sees the roof from outside only. For the underside, we check the loft where it can be reached safely.
