Neasden Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Neasden, carried out by an experienced roof surveyor. Every survey comes with a written report and photos.
- Wind damage high on the roof
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
Before and after the survey
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Some tips:
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photos and findings. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.
Don’t block the vents at the eaves. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Check insulation does not block the airflow.
Drone roof survey in Neasden
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there’s safe access, we look in the roof space too, since that’s where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. If there’s no safe loft access, the report says so. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors, and the problems we are asked to look at most are ponding and splits on a high flat roof and cracked mortar along the ridge.
London’s roofs are often hard to see from the street: butterfly roofs behind parapets, dormer tops and flat roofs over back additions. Drone photos and thermal images can show parts of a roof that are hard to reach safely. Weather on the day decides whether it goes ahead, in Neasden as anywhere. What a thermal image shows is temperature, so anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Airspace, weather and Neasden roofs
Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
Anyone responsible for a site like Northview Junior and Infant School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. For an older house near a landmark such as St Catherine's Church Neasden with St Paul, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Common roof problems in Neasden
From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. You can’t see the back slope, the valleys or the chimney tops. Problems in those places often go unseen until they leak, which is why owners turn to a drone.
It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
With Fenton House about 2.9 miles east, the area around Neasden has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof itself.
Questions to ask before you book
- What follow-up you get after the report
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
- Their insurance cover
How the survey works
On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that is worrying you. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely. Most surveys take an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a London conversion, the way into the loft space is often from a communal landing or the top flat. If that applies to your building, it helps to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Everything else is planned around the building, not the postcode.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

What this survey can’t tell you
It’s useful to know what a survey won’t do before you book:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Flights in strong wind or a downpour
If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and does not.
Roofs we survey in Neasden

- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Fragile roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
What happens if roof problems are left?
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. They show the location and extent of each defect. Blocked gutters and hoppers on London houses overflow and soak brickwork, which can lead to damp inside. A blocked outlet ignored for a winter or two can mean damp walls inside.
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. You’ll know the figure before booking.

What else we do in Neasden
Neasden: your questions answered
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Neasden?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Neasden?
London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway when you book. The visit is then planned around what’s available.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. Our survey isn’t a structural engineer’s report, and it doesn’t include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we will recommend one.
Do I need to be at home?
It depends on what we need to see. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in, while outside access can be discussed as you book.
Is Neasden in your area?
Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and that includes Neasden.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Tell us about it when you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them.
Landlords, agents and block managers in Neasden
We survey roofs for landlords and agents as well as homeowners. A written report with photos gives you a clear record of the roof.
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out with the most urgent first where relevant, which helps with budgets and planning.
