Airspace, weather and Redlands roofs
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Farnham Castle, about 2.3 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Redlands. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of All Saints, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help. Take a building like Crondall Primary School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
Redlands is about 3 miles south of Fleet, in Surrey. We carry out drone roof surveys in Redlands for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings. Across Surrey, we cover Redlands and the places around it. Our Guildford page covers surveys nearby.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Redlands
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it can’t see inside. We check the loft from inside where it’s safe, because the underside tells its own story. Together, the two give a fuller picture. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. Typical surveys look at chimney tops in poor condition and flashings that have come away, across tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs.
Villages like Redlands often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

What we look for on each type of roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
Widespread slipping on slate usually means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Valleys and parapet gutters
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You cannot see it from the street at all, but a drone shows it clearly.
Do you need a drone roof survey in Redlands?
Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.
Most people get in touch when they’ve noticed something like this:
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
- Chimney tops in poor condition
For businesses in and around places such as Hart Shopping Centre, big, flat commercial roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help most.

Common questions in Redlands
Will you come out to Redlands?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Redlands?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes, every report has them. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible.
What will the report tell me?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos. Points are put with the most urgent first where relevant.
How quickly is the report sent?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email, ready to forward.
Will the drone film my neighbours?
We keep the camera on the roof we are surveying. We inspect only the roof you’ve asked about. If your roof is shared, it’s useful to tell your neighbours about the visit.
How experienced are you?
We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.
When you need someone else
It helps to know what a survey won’t do before booking:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
- A structural engineer’s report
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.
What we check
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Fragile roofs
What you can safely check yourself
You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it.

What else we do in Redlands
Landlords, agents and block managers in Redlands
Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.
Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, with the report sent to whoever needs it. Access is agreed with the tenant ahead of time.
How it works
We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect what can be seen safely, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. Most visits take about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around Redlands often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
