Drone roof survey in Row Town

We fly a sub-250g drone, and we are a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. We never fly where it isn’t safe. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors, and people most often book us about gaps where slates or tiles have gone and blistered or cracked flat roof coverings.

Places like Row Town can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.

We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, and where it can wait, that is said too.

Leave it or get it looked at?

With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is, which helps when you ask for quotes. Blocked gutters on homes around Row Town overflow and soak walls, especially where trees overhang. Dealing with the cause is simple; drying out a wall is not.

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the size and height of the roof, how it can be seen safely and the package you choose.

Why us?

  • We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • Visits on any day of the week
  • Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help
  • Photos and a written report every time

What we do, step by step

Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings in a report with photos, emailed to you. On timing, most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. A visit to a smaller place like Row Town is no different on the day: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • Clear the way to the loft hatch

How to book

Tips from our surveys

Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Tips:

  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn

With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible.

After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone survey can show what has shifted.

What a survey costs

We confirm the price for your survey before you book. This is what makes a difference:

  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • Roof area

One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Helping us price your survey

If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:

  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • Anything about access we should know
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window

Booking is simple: just call 07833 053749 or email us, let us know about the property and we will recommend the right survey. The price is agreed up front.

Row Town questions

Is drone flying allowed in Row Town?

Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Fairoaks Airport is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

How do I find out if my home in Row Town is listed?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Mention it when you contact us and we will explain what’s needed.

Do you look in the loft space?

Usually, if there is one and it can be reached safely. The roof space can show things the outside can’t, such as damp timbers, staining or daylight.

What happens next?

You will get the report by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. With Standard there’s a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

How long does the survey take?

It usually takes an hour or two for most houses, and more on a big or complicated roof. The written report follows by email, on the timescale of your package.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Only when it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed.

Airspace, weather and Row Town roofs

Fairoaks Airport is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Historic houses such as Botleys Mansion, about 1.4 miles north-west, show how far back building in the area around Row Town goes. If yours is one of the older homes, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.

Take a building like Holy Family Catholic Primary School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Shop and office owners around The Peacocks may find that big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most. The streets around a church like St Paul's are often among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Checking the roof from ground level

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
