Prices for drone roof surveys in Waterloo
All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- Height and safe access
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on how big and how high the roof is, how it can be seen safely and the package you choose.
What to tell us when you get in touch
The more you let us know, the easier it is to price the survey. When you contact us, tell us:
- Dates you’re working to, like exchange
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and tell us the address and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price before booking.
Drone roof survey in Waterloo: what you get
Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone will not help on your roof, we’ll say so. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are hidden gutters full of leaves and plant growth and moss on the roof.
London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. Images are taken to show the roof we are surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy, in Waterloo as anywhere. Tell us about the building and access when you book. The extra view helps most on steep slopes, tall stacks and rear additions.
Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

Waterloo questions
Is parking a problem for a survey in Waterloo?
It rarely stops a survey, but it is worth planning. Tell us what parking is available nearby, and the visit is planned around it.
How do I find out if my home in Waterloo is listed?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only if it’s safe. We look at everything that can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows, from inside the roof space, from the roof where it’s safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
Do I need to be at home?
It depends on what we need to see. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in, while outside access can be discussed as you book.
Is your drone operator registered?
Yes, we are. Our Flyer ID and Operator ID come from the CAA, and we fly a drone that weighs under 250g, kept within sight on every flight.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling are not something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
How it works
On the day, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you’d like to know. We then inspect everything that can safely be seen. The survey normally takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. For a visit in Waterloo, parking and access are the things to plan: let us know about parking, the floor the property is on, any shared entrance and loft access. We then look at what can safely be seen from the ground, windows, the loft and, where it’s safe, the roof itself.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of

Advice
Surveys for landlords and agents in Waterloo
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, and they’re priced for the size.
Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in Waterloo. For a price for a let property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Roof by roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
Widespread slipping on slate usually means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Large commercial roofs
Many commercial roofs have fragile sheets or roof lights. A drone keeps everyone off them.
Useful tips for Waterloo property owners
There’s plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- Book early if you are near an airport
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Move stored items away from the hatch
Your report arrives by email, including the close-up photos taken by the drone. Findings are set out in plain English, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.
Every so frequently, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.
What this survey cannot tell you
In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will recommend the right survey before you book. What a survey covers and does not.
What this survey covers

- Tall and steep roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
Flying and imaging in Waterloo
Waterloo is about 2 miles from the edge of the flight restriction zone around London Heliport in Battersea. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
For hotels and guest houses around Waterloo, a roof problem found early is far less disruptive than one found by a guest, so it pays to find faults before guests do. Take a building like Oasis Academy Johanna: big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once. Controlled parking zones are common in London, so mention any permit rules for Waterloo.
