Roof surveys in TW15

How a roof survey works in TW15

The report is written for you, in plain language. Each defect is described with photographs and a recommendation, and we rank them by urgency where that helps. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. Premium adds thermal imaging, a drone inspection where it applies and a same-day report. Reports are sent by email. We survey clay and concrete tiles, chimney stacks and flat roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are gutters that overflow in heavy rain and valley linings that have cracked or split.

It’s useful to start with what’s prompted the survey: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit usually takes an hour or two for a house, or half a day or so for a commercial building.

  1. You pick the package that suits your roof.
  2. On the day, we start by hearing what you’ve noticed.
  3. Coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are inspected and photographed.
  4. Moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging or a drone are added where your package includes them.
  5. You get a written report with photos and clear recommendations.

Homes and roofs across TW15

From Ashford, Ashford Common and Littleton Common to smaller places, people across TW15 use a roof survey to plan ahead. A report helps you sort small faults before they let water in.

London and the South East mix slate and clay tile roofs on older homes with concrete tiles on many later ones. Each roof in TW15 is checked with its age and materials in mind.

Ashford: Landlords with a home close to Ashford Surrey station may find that a dated record of the roof is useful when planning maintenance across a let. Take an older house close to Parish Church of St Matthew: the nails, lead and mortar on the roof may be wearing out even where the slates or tiles look fine.

Why act early?

By the time water marks a ceiling, it’s often been getting in for a while. Insulation, plaster and timber can all be damp before you see a stain. A survey can pick up the early signs from the loft.

What to check before booking

  • Whether VAT is added on top
  • What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • What follow-up you get after the report

Checking the roof from ground level

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

Tips from our surveys

Most of what helps is simple and safe from the ground. A few suggestions:

  • Mention any damp patches when booking
  • Make sure we can open the loft hatch
  • Check the roof from the ground after storms
  • Keep the report with your property records

Standard includes a follow-up consultation to talk the findings through, while Premium includes a consultation in person. It’s a chance to ask questions about anything in the report.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. Look for water marks, damp wood and chinks of light. Take photos of anything that changes.

Roof by roof

Concrete interlocking tiles

Interlocking tiles on shallow roofs depend on their laps and fixings. We look for lifted, cracked or slipped tiles, especially at the verges and ridge.

Lead flashings and valleys

Most leaks begin at a joint rather than the middle of a slope. That’s why we look at them closely.

Your questions about roof surveys in TW15

Do you use drones?

Where it’s applicable and safe, yes. We are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.

Can you survey at the weekend?

We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or email us.

Can you check whether my roof contains asbestos?

No. Asbestos testing is not part of our service. Where materials might contain it, we say so in the report and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.

Does someone need to be in?

That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access, while outside access can be discussed as you book.

What’s the best way to book?

It is easiest to call 07833 053749 or send us an email. Tell us the address and a little about the roof, and we will recommend the right survey. We survey on weekdays and at weekends.

What do you check on a roof survey?

Every part of the roof we can safely see: the slates or tiles, ridges, valleys, flashings, chimneys, gutters and roof space. Higher packages add moisture detection, structural checks, thermal imaging and a drone where it applies.

What insurance do you have?

We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
