Roof surveys for Queen's Park homes and businesses

Roof surveys for homes and businesses in Queen's Park

Our report is written in plain English, not jargon. Each defect is described with photos and a recommendation, and where it is relevant we say what’s urgent and what can wait. With the Standard Survey you also get moisture detection and a structural check. Premium adds thermal imaging, a drone inspection where it applies and a same-day report. Each report is emailed to you. We are often asked to look into gutters that overflow in heavy rain and debris building up in roof valleys, across the roof space, ridges, hips and valleys and flat roofs.

Much of London’s housing is flats, in converted houses or purpose-built blocks, where the roof is normally a shared part of the building. Landlords, managing agents and residents’ companies need to know what condition it is in and what work is coming up, in Queen's Park as anywhere. A defect on a shared roof can reach more than one flat. A report gives everyone the same picture to plan from, with photos.

If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.

What happens if roof problems are left?

A roof that has had no attention for years can surprise you. Our report gives you a record of how the roof is today, so you can compare it next time. In Queen's Park, as across London, an overflowing gutter soaks the wall below. A small blockage left for a few winters becomes a damp problem.

Prices start from £150, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we can help you choose.

What you get with us

  • Thermal imaging and drone inspection where they help
  • An independent look at the roof
  • Package prices that include VAT
  • A sub-250g drone, flown with a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID

How it works

It is useful to start with what’s prompted the survey: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. That way we can focus on what matters to you. The visit normally takes about one to two hours for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are. From the street, a London terrace usually shows only its front slope or parapet, so in Queen's Park we work round the house, using the street, the windows, the loft and any safe vantage point behind it. If other people live in the building, tell us who can let us into the shared parts.

  1. You let us know the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
  3. We check the roof from each safe vantage point outside.
  4. We then look in the loft for damp, staining and the condition of the underlay.
  5. You receive the report with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency.

Prices for roof surveys in Queen's Park

Prices always include VAT. The things that change the price are:

  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen

Prices quoted always include VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Our price is from £150, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

Booking your survey

You do not need to know any roofing terms. It’s enough to let us know:

  • Anything about access we should know
  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • The property’s address and postcode

If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Roof by roof

Concrete interlocking tiles

Interlocking tiles on shallow roofs depend on their laps and fixings. Lifted or cracked tiles are noted.

Chimney stacks

Damp on a chimney breast inside often starts with the stack outside. We look for the likely route in.

Queen's Park questions

Is my home in Queen's Park listed or in a conservation area?

We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Is drone flying allowed in Queen's Park?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather, though the rest of the survey goes ahead either way.

Do you carry out asbestos surveys?

No. Asbestos was banned in UK construction in 1999, so older buildings may have it. We flag materials that could contain it, and a specialist asbestos surveyor should check them.

How do I book a survey in Queen's Park?

To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or email us and let us know the address and what you’d like to know. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.

What insurance do you have?

We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Can you survey at the weekend?

Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To find a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Do you give a life expectancy for the roof?

Not as an exact number, because so much depends on the fixings, underlay and upkeep. What we do is explain the roof’s condition and what to deal with first.

What this survey can’t tell you

A survey is a proper look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. The main limits are:

  • An exact number of years the roof has left
  • Faults hidden behind ceilings or boarding
  • A structural engineer’s report

If you are not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.

What a roof survey looks like in Queen's Park

Welsh slate on Victorian and Edwardian terraces is a familiar sight across inner London. From the street you may see only a parapet, with a butterfly roof and a valley gutter behind it draining to the back. Lead flashings, party-wall upstands and shared chimney stacks are typical of these houses, if yours is one of them. Each of these coverings has its own weak points, from fixings and valleys to flashings, chimneys and gutters. The wider area around Queen's Park has a long history of building, with Winfield House about 1.7 miles east. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.

Trees in and around Queen’s Park shed leaves that can end up in nearby gutters, and an overflowing gutter soon means a wet wall. Shop and office owners around O2 Centre may find that a roof report helps plan work around trading rather than after a leak. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Luke's CofE Primary School, long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle.
