Storm damage roof report in The Village

Our storm damage report starts from £150. It’s a written report with photos, sent by email. It isn’t a repair quote and does not include repair costs, so ask a roofer to quote for the work. The insurer may still send a loss adjuster of its own. Our report gives you an independent record of the damage and its likely cause. We survey chimney stacks, flashings and flat roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are loose or torn flashings and holes or cracks caused by debris.

Many homes in small places like The Village face open ground, where storms hit ridges, verges and chimneys hardest. Once water gets into older walls, it takes a long time to dry, so it pays to find the cause quickly. A record with photos is useful if you need to show the damage to anyone else.

You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

The Village questions

Do you cover The Village?

Yes. We work right across London and the South East, and The Village is part of that. Just call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and let us know about the property.

Will you come out to The Village?

Yes, The Village is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.

Do you look in the loft space?

Normally, if there’s one and it can be reached safely. The roof space can show things the outside can’t, such as damp timbers, staining or daylight.

Can you tell me if my claim will be paid?

We cannot say whether a claim will be paid. The decision rests with your insurer and its policy. What we provide is an independent record of the damage.

How long will you be at the property?

Most surveys take about 1–2 hours at a typical home, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. We will confirm the timing when you book.

How experienced are you?

Over 5,000 surveys so far, over more than 20 years.

Will you fly a drone over my roof?

Yes, where it is applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.

Landlords, agents and block managers in The Village

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant beforehand.

Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work around your tenants.

A few slipped slates can soon lead to wet timbers. Getting it recorded and repaired sooner is typically better. For older village homes like those around The Village, the right replacement materials aren’t always easy to find quickly. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

What we do, step by step

Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. You’re welcome to ask questions while we’re there. In a small place like The Village, access is typically the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. You let us know what happened and whether a roofer has made the roof safe.
  2. Inside, we look for signs of water in the loft and rooms below.
  3. We view the roof from safe positions.
  4. We record fresh damage and older defects.
  5. You receive the written report with photographs.

Before the survey

  • Find any records of previous roof work
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Advice

When to book a survey in The Village

When you claim, your insurer may ask for evidence of the damage and its cause. A written report with photos gives you something clear to pass on. Your insurer still makes the decision.

Things that often lead to a survey include:

  • Holes or cracks caused by debris
  • Slates and tiles blown off the roof
  • Lifted or missing ridge and hip tiles
  • Torn or lifted flat roof coverings

Homes near green spaces such as Windsor Great Park can get more leaves in their gutters in autumn, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls.

Before you book any roof surveyor

  • Whether the inside of the roof is included
  • How much experience they have with roofs like yours
  • Their report turnaround times
  • Their insurance cover

What’s in a roof survey

The Village roofs and the weather

The wider area around The Village has a long history of building, with St Leonard's Hill about 1.7 miles north. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles, with flat-roofed extensions, dormers and garages common everywhere. Different coverings let water in at different points, which shapes where the search starts.

Anyone responsible for a site like Windsor Girls' School will know that tracing a leak on a big roof starts with where the water appears and works back. For landlords with property near Windsor & Eton Central station, finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused.

What you can safely check yourself

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book, as it helps us focus the survey.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
