Thermal roof surveys in Lee Chapel

Thermal roof survey in Lee Chapel: what you get

We present each thermal image next to a normal photo of the same area, making it clear where on the roof each pattern is. We explain what each pattern may mean, what the moisture readings found and what we recommend. With a Premium Survey, the report reaches you the same day. You can talk the findings through with us at the in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. Typical surveys look at damp around chimneys and parapets and damp around roof outlets and upstands, on ceilings below the roof, flat roofs and loft conversions.

Places like Lee Chapel can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.

Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Airspace, weather and Lee Chapel roofs

The coast is about 5 miles or less from Lee Chapel, and coastal wind can be strong. Clear thermal results need a dry roof and little wind after a sunny day, so the date depends on the forecast. What can be done to an older roof may depend on listing or a conservation area. The council is the place to check, along with Historic England’s list, ideally before any re-roofing is planned.

If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Eastgate Shopping Centre, large commercial roofs are often easiest to see by drone or thermal camera. If your house is among the older ones in the streets near St Martin of Tours, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Anyone responsible for a site like St Anne Line Catholic Junior School will know that thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

What a thermal roof survey doesn’t cover

Before booking, it’s worth knowing what a survey will not do:

  • Proving moisture from the images alone
  • The condition of timbers we cannot see
  • Insulation values or heat loss calculations

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will point you to the right survey. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Flat roofs
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Commercial roofs
  • Loft conversions
  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Ceilings below the roof

The survey, step by step

After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a report with photographs, sent to you by email. On timing, most surveys take between one and two hours for most houses, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. In a smaller place like Lee Chapel, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. Low roofs on bungalows can often be seen well from the ground, and the loft shows the rest.

  1. You tell us about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
  2. The weather and surface conditions are recorded.
  3. A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
  4. We back up the thermal patterns with moisture readings.
  5. You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Check the loft hatch can be reached
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Advice

DIY checks: what’s safe

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Tips that help

Small things make a difference. Our tips:

  • Check the loft can be reached safely
  • Keep the heating on as usual before a heat loss survey
  • Do not climb onto the roof to look for leaks yourself
  • Keep the report to compare against after any repair

We note the weather and surface conditions, and how they may have affected the results. It helps you judge how firm each finding is.

After repairs or a new covering, a later survey can confirm things are dry, when the conditions are suitable.

FAQs for Lee Chapel

Is Lee Chapel within the area you cover?

Yes, Lee Chapel is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.

Do you cover Lee Chapel?

We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.

Will the survey show heat loss through my roof?

It can show temperature patterns that point to missing or thin insulation. It shows most clearly when it is warm inside and cold outside. We look from the loft as well, where there is safe access.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs cannot always be walked on. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where applicable let us see the rest, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.

How many surveys have you done?

We have more than 20 years’ experience and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys.

Which survey includes thermal imaging?

Our Premium Survey, from £400, includes thermal imaging. You also get an in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Lee Chapel

Why act early in Lee Chapel

Trapped water can harm decks, timbers and ceilings the longer it stays. Looking now, while the damage may still be limited, keeps more options open. With lower homes, common in places like Lee Chapel, there is little between a roof defect and the ceiling, so water can show inside quickly once it gets past the covering. Catching the cause first saves redecorating as well.

Prices start from £150, with VAT included, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking.
