Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in London Fields
We carry out drone roof surveys in London Fields and across London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We are often asked to look into outlets choked with leaves and silt and moss building up on slopes and in gutters, across tall and steep roofs, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.
London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every address in London Fields is checked before any drone flight, and permission is never taken for granted.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Roof by roof
Ridges and hips
Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Spotting them early stops them falling.
Valleys and parapet gutters
When a parapet outlet blocks, water can come inside. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.
Why act early in London Fields
Leaving a high roof unchecked means relying on what you can see from below. A drone replaces that guesswork with clear photos, slope by slope. Seeing the problem makes it easier to decide what to do. London’s older roofs often have bitumen felt underlay or none at all, so once the slates or flashings let water past, little stops it reaching ceilings. Left alone, that means wet timbers and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the roof fault itself.
Every price we give includes VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Prices start from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

What a drone roof survey does not cover
In fairness, a roof survey has limits:
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads

FAQs for London Fields
Is drone flying allowed in London Fields?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Can parking be tricky for a visit in London Fields?
London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway when booking. The visit is then planned around what’s available.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To find a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that in advance, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.
What does a roof survey cost?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, inc. VAT.
What do I do with the report?
You’ll receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.
Can you survey in bad weather?
It can, depending on the survey. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. We’ll rearrange with you if the weather isn’t right.
Landlords, agents and block managers in London Fields
Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. Recommendations are set out in order of urgency where relevant, which helps when budgeting.
Letting agents can arrange access with tenants, at a time agreed beforehand. Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which can make access easier.

Drone roof surveys in London Fields: local notes
We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Within a mile and a half or so of London Fields there are several hotels, and like offices and blocks, hotels often sit under flat roofs. If you look after one, a large roof can be surveyed without guests having anyone working above them.
Shop and office owners around Hackney Walk may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Michael and All Angels, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. London Fields is in London, so parking needs planning: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day easier, as a space near the door cannot be promised.

How it works
It helps to start with what’s prompted the survey: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. Most visits take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In London Fields, as in much of London, a good many properties are flats or terraces without side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, tell us as you book.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
- Note where any stains or damp appear
