Drone roof survey in Norleywood: what you get

Drone roof surveys are available in Norleywood and throughout London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on any day of the week. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We survey chimney stacks, valleys and parapet gutters and flat roofs on upper floors, and the problems we are asked to look at most are blistered or cracked flat roof coverings and plant growth and moss on the roof.

Villages like Norleywood often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Norleywood: your questions answered

How do I find out if my home in Norleywood is listed?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Norleywood?

Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

When does the report arrive?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. It’s a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.

How much is a survey?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. We confirm the exact price before booking, and it depends on the roof’s size, access and the package you choose. To get a price, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.

What insurance do you have?

Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability.

How it works

We look at the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the roof space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey typically takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere as small as Norleywood, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Honest limits

Before booking, it is worth knowing what a survey will not do:

  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Tips from our surveys

From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:

  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Tell us about any leaks or concerns
  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too

Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos from the flight. Each finding is explained in plain words, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.

Checking the roof from ground level

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

When to book a survey in Norleywood

Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Three-storey houses, blocks of flats and tall commercial buildings are common examples. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.

Signs worth acting on include:

  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
  • Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
  • Plant growth and moss on the roof
  • Cracked mortar along the ridge

If you look after a building like South Baddesley Church of England Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Which limits apply to the survey
  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Are they insured for the work?
  • Whether you get a written report with photos

Flying and imaging in Norleywood

Norleywood lies within about 2 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

With Beaulieu Palace House about 3.5 miles north-east, the area around Norleywood has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager doesn’t touch the roof itself. If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Norleywood is about 3 miles north-east of Lymington, in Hampshire. From houses to flats and shops in Norleywood, we can survey the roof on a weekday or at the weekend. Our area takes in places right across Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages. There’s also a page for Southampton.

We work across the SO41 postcode area for drone roof surveys. Streets in the area include Norleywood Road, Joys Lane and Thatchers Lane, and we cover them all. We also cover East End (1 mile south-east), Thorns Beach (3 miles east), Hamstead (5 miles south-east), Bouldnor (5 miles south) and Yarmouth (5 miles south). We also work in nearby towns like Gosport (15 miles east), Eastleigh (15 miles north-east), Fareham (14 miles east), Totton (10 miles north), Chandler's Ford (15 miles north) and Hedge End (13 miles north-east).
