Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in North Stoke
Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs cannot always be inspected up close. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail, including slopes that cannot be seen from the street. Everything we find goes into a photo-illustrated written report. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. Where a flight isn’t possible, we explain why. If you’ve noticed ridge pieces that have lifted and chimney tops in poor condition, we can find out what’s behind it, on tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks alike.
Villages like North Stoke often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
Most points in the report come with a picture, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

What a drone roof survey does not cover
Before you book, it’s worth knowing what a survey won’t do:
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors
The survey, step by step
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take between one and two hours at a typical home, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. Rural addresses near North Stoke can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- We also look inside the loft space where it’s safe.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we’re coming
How to book

Drone roof surveys in North Stoke: local notes
Historic houses such as Brightwell Manor, about 3.5 miles north-west, show how far back building in the area around North Stoke goes. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Older buildings in west Oxfordshire often have Cotswold stone slate roofs, and some Oxfordshire villages still have thatch. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from ground level, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.
Take a building like Wallingford School: big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once. Take an older house close to St Mary the Virgin: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Does the report include photographs?
