Sydenham Hill Drone Roof Survey
Need a drone roof survey in Sydenham Hill? We can help, with a written report you can act on. Weekday and weekend visits available.
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
Practical tips
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.
Every so often, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Sydenham Hill
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Flight restriction zones around airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and London City need permission from the airport or air traffic control. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and tell you. Prison sites also have drone restriction zones. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors, and people most often book us about ridge pieces that have lifted and storm damage on steep or tall roofs.
In London’s terraces and conversions, roofs are packed close together, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. Images are taken to show the roof we’re surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy, in Sydenham Hill as anywhere. Let us know about the building and access as you book. The extra view helps most on steep slopes, tall stacks and rear additions.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Sydenham Hill: your questions answered
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Sydenham Hill?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Sydenham Hill?
Usually it is manageable with a little notice. Let us know what parking is available nearby, and the visit is planned around it.
What if my home is near an airport?
That depends on where the roof is. Inside a flight restriction zone, we need permission first. Allow a little extra time if your home is close to an airport.
How much is a survey?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You will know the price for your survey before booking. To get a price, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
What if it’s windy or raining on the day?
Strong wind or heavy rain stops a flight. The weather on the day decides whether the drone goes up. If it is unsuitable, we’ll agree another date or inspect by other means.
Do drone rules differ in central London?
Central London has restricted areas where NATS permission is needed. If permission isn’t possible, we inspect by other means and explain what we could see.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
Drone roof surveys in Sydenham Hill: local notes
Inner London’s Victorian and Edwardian terraces often have Welsh slate roofs. Many have butterfly roofs draining to a central valley gutter, with parapet walls and gutters hidden behind them. Lead flashings, party-wall upstands and shared chimney stacks are typical of these houses, if yours is one of them. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up photos from the air and thermal images help. About 0.6 miles west lies Kingswood House, a reminder of how long the area around Sydenham Hill has been built on. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like Kelvin Grove Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. For a London address like Sydenham Hill, it is useful to know about controlled parking before the day, along with any off-street space.

What we can’t see
We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you before you book. The full list of what we check.
What we look at
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Chimney stacks
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
What happens on the day
Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings in a report with photographs, emailed to you. On timing, most surveys take an hour or two at most homes, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. For a visit in Sydenham Hill, parking and access are the things to plan: let us know about parking, the floor the property is on, any shared entrance and loft access. On the day, the roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from inside the loft space and from the roof where it’s safe.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
Preparing for the visit
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
Getting a price
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you are ready.

Why act early in Sydenham Hill
A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so the survey doesn’t create new problems. Many older London roofs have only old felt under the slates, or no underlay at all, so once the slates or flashings let water past, little stops it reaching ceilings. Left alone, that means wet timbers and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the roof fault itself.
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report isn’t charged as an extra. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.
