Drone Roof Survey in Woodend
An experienced roof surveyor for drone roof surveys in Woodend. Over 5,000 surveys and 20+ years behind us.
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
Can I check my roof myself?
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us as you book.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we look at the roof.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Woodend
Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly, including slopes that cannot be seen from the street. The photos go into a written report. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight isn’t possible, we explain why. Typical surveys look at hidden gutters full of leaves and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, across chimney stacks, fragile roofs and large and complex roofs.
Some older homes in villages like Woodend are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

Leave it or get it looked at?
A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It helps when you plan ahead. Outbuildings and barns around Woodend are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. It’s worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.
Our price is from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Woodend
Is Woodend within the area you cover?
Yes. Woodend is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work right across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there as you book.
Is my home in Woodend listed or in a conservation area?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Can the drone do thermal imaging?
Our drone takes close-up photos of the roof. Thermal imaging is a separate check, and it is part of the Premium Survey.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Just say which days work for you.
Can you survey a roof inside a flight restriction zone?
Only with the right permission. Airports such as Gatwick, Luton and Southampton have flight restriction zones, and a flight inside one needs the airport’s or air traffic control’s say-so. If permission isn’t given, the roof is inspected from other safe viewpoints.
What do I do with the report?
You’ll receive the report by email, and you decide the next step: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Not every roof costs the same to survey, for these reasons:
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- Which survey package you book
There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
What we need to know
When you call or email, these details help:
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- What made you get in touch
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- The address and postcode of the property
Our phone lines are open seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. For a price or to book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
What we do, step by step
We check the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. The whole visit usually takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere like Woodend needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect everything that’s safely in view, inside and out.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.
How to prepare
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Check pets are kept safely away
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
How to book
To book a survey, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. You will know the price before anything is booked.

Practical tips
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:
- Book early if you are near an airport
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photos and findings. You can ask about anything that is not clear.
Keep the loft space ventilated. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Letting agents can arrange access with tenants. Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends, which helps when tenants work during the week.
If you own several properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To arrange surveys for several addresses, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the addresses.
Drones, thermal imaging and Woodend roofs
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from ground level, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.
If you look after a building like Swanmore College of Technology, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near Church of the Holy Trinity, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.
