Drone Roof Survey in Kingsmead
Get a clear view of the roof at a property in Kingsmead from an independent roof surveyor. Visits run on weekdays and weekends, in the daytime.
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
Why get it checked now?
A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so the survey does not create new problems. For an older or listed building in a place like Kingsmead, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all with VAT included. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Kingsmead
They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from the ground. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. If a drone is not the right tool, we’ll say so. If you’ve noticed coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and lead work pulling away at abutments, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
Villages like Kingsmead frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
Nothing in the report is left vague: if work is needed, the report says so clearly, along with how urgent it is.

What a survey costs
When we price a survey, we consider:
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- The size of the roof
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.
Booking your survey
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Where the property is, with the postcode

What we can’t see
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- Flights in high wind or heavy rain
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)

What happens on the day
Photos are taken throughout the visit, so the report shows exactly what we saw. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around Kingsmead frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- For flats, check roof access has been agreed
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached

Advice
FAQs for Kingsmead
Is Kingsmead within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is my home in Kingsmead listed or in a conservation area?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?
Yes. Our registration covers a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. The drone we use weighs under 250g, flown within the rules for the open category.
What if it is windy or raining on the day?
The conditions on the day decide whether a flight goes ahead. We will not fly in high wind or heavy rain. If the weather turns, we will discuss another date.
What’s in the survey report?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Kingsmead?
Simply ring 07833 053749 or email us. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date, weekday or weekend.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.
Airspace, weather and Kingsmead roofs
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it’s listed or in a conservation area. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Kingsmead
Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are often invisible from below. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Flashings that have come away
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Standing water on a flat roof
Anyone responsible for a site like Swanmore College of Technology will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Different roofs, different checks
Large commercial roofs
Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
The flat roof on top of a block is rarely looked at. From above, standing water, splits and tired upstands are clear.
