What a survey costs
Survey packages start from £150, with VAT included. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before you book.
Helping us price your survey
Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
- The property’s address and postcode
- What made you get in touch
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To get started, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Drone roof survey in Heron Quays: what you get
Drone roof surveys are available in Heron Quays and throughout London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or email us with the address. If you’ve noticed tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack and blocked valleys and parapet gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: restriction zones surround Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas of their own. Before a drone goes up in Heron Quays, the address is checked against all of them, and permission is never taken for granted.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

When to book a survey in Heron Quays
After storms, owners want to know what has moved. Damage on a high or steep roof is hard to judge from the garden. A drone shows what has slipped, lifted or gone.
Common reasons to book include:
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Heron Quays means lost rooms as well as repairs, so it pays to find faults before guests do.
Before booking anyone
- What follow-up you get after the report
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- Their report turnaround times
- What exactly goes into their report
What we can’t see
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey before you book. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers

What we do, step by step
After the inspection, everything we found is written up in a report with photographs, emailed to you. As for time on site, it usually takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a London area like Heron Quays, the main things to sort out are parking and access: let us know about parking, the floor the property is on, any shared entrance and loft access. We then look at everything that’s safely in view from ground level, windows, the loft and, where it is safe, the roof itself.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Let us know about parking before the day
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of

Airspace, weather and Heron Quays roofs
Heron Quays is about 1 mile from the restricted area over the Isle of Dogs, where drone flights need permission from NATS. If a roof falls inside it, we apply for permission before flying, and the flight only goes ahead if it’s granted. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.
For an older house near a landmark such as St Peter's Church, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. Controlled parking zones are common in London, so mention any permit rules for Heron Quays.

Steep roofs are risky to walk on. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. They’re all captured in close-up.
