Drone roof survey in North End, Greater London
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in North End, carried out by an experienced roof surveyor. You get a clear written report with photographs.
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
Useful tips for North End property owners
Most of what helps is simple and safe from the ground. A few suggestions:
- Let us know the exact address as you book
- Let us know about any leaks or concerns
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.
Every so frequently, look in the loft space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.
Drone roof survey in North End
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. If a drone will not help on your roof, we will say so. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. Typical surveys look at lead work pulling away at abutments and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, on large and complex roofs, tall and steep roofs and fragile roofs.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every address in North End is checked before any drone flight, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.
It is not only a list of defects. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, so you can decide what to do next.

For landlords and managing agents
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on.
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in. We survey on weekdays and at weekends, which can make access easier.
Why get it checked now?
Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. Our report shows the condition of each area. You can tackle the urgent items first. A hidden valley or parapet gutter on a London house can hold water for weeks before anyone notices. When the stain finally shows, the damage underneath is often older than it looks.
A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.

How the survey works
The aim of the visit is simple: to see as much of the roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It usually takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Many London properties are flats or terraces with no side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, let us know as you book.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
Book a survey
A quick phone call is typically the easiest start: ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email, and we’ll ask about the building and what you need. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Advice
Drones, thermal imaging and North End roofs
Many homes in inner London are Victorian and Edwardian terraces, often with Welsh slate roofs. A butterfly roof with a central valley gutter, tucked behind a parapet wall, is common on these houses. If your home in North End is one of them, lead flashings, party-wall upstands and shared chimney stacks are part of the picture too. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as The King Alfred School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Historic houses like Heath House, about 0.3 miles south, show how far back building around North End goes. Aerial photos and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
North End is about 1 mile north of Greenhill, in Greater London. We survey roofs in North End and the surrounding area as part of our work across London and the South East. North End is one of the places in Greater London where we work for drone roof surveys. Our London page covers surveys nearby.

North End questions
Is my home in North End listed or in a conservation area?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Is parking a problem for a survey in North End?
It rarely stops a survey, but it’s worth planning. Tell us what parking is available nearby, and the visit is planned around it.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with the freeholder or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll explain what’s needed.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only where it’s safe to do so. We check everything that can safely be seen: from the ground, from windows, from inside the loft space, from the roof where it’s safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
What if my home is near an airport?
It depends on the airspace at your address. Flying inside a flight restriction zone needs permission from the airport or air traffic control, which can add time. Allow a little extra time if your home is close to an airport.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We check the roof, not the whole building, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
Signs you need a drone roof survey in North End
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
Problems we come across frequently include:
- Wind damage high on the roof
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
North End is in London, so parking needs planning: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when booking, as a space near the door can’t be promised.
Questions to ask before you book
- What the survey won’t cover
- Their insurance cover
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- Whether the price includes VAT
When you need someone else
Every survey has limits, and we’d rather be clear about that before booking. Keep these in mind:
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Flights in high wind or heavy rain
- Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will recommend the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
