Drone Roof Survey in Cowplain
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Cowplain, using drones and thermal imaging where it applies. Call or email for a price.
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Standing water on a flat roof
What we do, step by step
We look at the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. The whole visit usually takes about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a smaller place like Cowplain, as anywhere, the forecast plays a part: the parts that need calm, dry weather are planned around it.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Let us know about parking near the property

Advice
How a drone roof survey works in Cowplain
Drones need reasonable weather. High wind or heavy rain rules out a flight, because control and safety come first. If the weather turns, we’ll agree another day or inspect what we can by other means. The forecast is checked ahead of the visit and again on the day. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. A short delay is better than a rushed flight. We are often asked to look into outlets choked with leaves and silt and lead work pulling away at abutments, on chimney stacks, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs.
Around Cowplain, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

What this survey can’t tell you
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book. What a survey covers and does not.

Common questions in Cowplain
Are there drone restrictions around Cowplain?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Do you cover smaller places like Cowplain?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do I need to be at home?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you when booking.
What does the report include?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, finishing with recommendations. Points are put in order of urgency where relevant.
How soon will I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. The report is emailed to you.
What insurance do you have?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. This is a survey of the roof only, so it’s not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.

DIY checks: what’s safe
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, which helps when we look at the roof.
Why it is worth a survey now in Cowplain
Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is. On a bungalow or cottage around Cowplain, the roof sits close to the rooms below, so a small leak can mark a ceiling within a few storms. Catching the cause first saves redecorating as well.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 including VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Cowplain
Our packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- Which survey package you book
- House, block, shop or office
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.
Helping us price your survey
The more you tell us, the easier it is to price the survey. When you contact us, it helps to mention:
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Anything about access we should know
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- The address and postcode of the property

Airspace, weather and Cowplain roofs
Cowplain lies within about 4 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. The wider area around Cowplain has a long history of building, with Warblington Castle about 4.5 miles south-east. If you own one of the older houses, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof.
If you live in an older home near The Hart Plain Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps. Anyone responsible for a site like Woodcroft Primary will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

For landlords and managing agents
