Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Worlds End

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone will not help on your roof, we’ll say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’re worried about coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and vegetation in valleys and gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

Somewhere as small as Worlds End, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

Most points in the report come with a picture, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

What a survey costs

Survey packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:

  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
  • How big the roof is

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

What we need to know

You do not need to know any roofing terms. It is enough to tell us:

  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage

If you are buying, it is useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there is time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply phone 07833 053749 or email us whenever suits you.

Practical tips

These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:

  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too

Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year, and whether work has done its job.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.

Drones, thermal imaging and Worlds End roofs

Worlds End lies within about 4 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail.

In and around Worlds End, as anywhere, a roof is easiest to deal with when its problems are found early. Around Worlds End, each roof gets the same safe, thorough look, and the findings in plain words.

Worlds End is about 3 miles west of Waterlooville, in Hampshire. Anywhere in Worlds End, we can carry out drone roof surveys at your property, on a weekday, Saturday or Sunday. Our area takes in places right across Hampshire. For surveys nearby, see our Portsmouth page.

Roof by roof

Large commercial roofs

Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.

Chimney stacks

The drone shows the outside of the stack, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If the flue needs a specialist, we will tell you.

Leave it or get it looked at?

Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. They show the location and extent of each defect, which helps when you ask for quotes. In a place like Worlds End, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. It is worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.

When you need someone else

Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:

  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

How the survey works

The visit typically starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the loft space where it can be reached. In total, it takes about 1–2 hours at a typical home, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. In a hamlet or village like Worlds End, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
  2. We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
  • Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey

Arrange a survey

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the details.

Advice

Worlds End: your questions answered

Are there drone restrictions around Worlds End?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Do you cover smaller places like Worlds End?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.

How soon will I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. All of them come by email.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.

Does the weather affect the survey?

Light rain does not usually stop a survey. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so if conditions are not right we will arrange another day with you.

How long does the survey take?

That depends on the size and shape of the roof, but most surveys take about one to two hours on an ordinary house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. The written report follows by email.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We note visible signs like sagging or deflection, but we do not carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
