New Roof Snagging across East Sussex

Our new roof snagging service in East Sussex

Replacing a roof costs a lot, so it is worth having it checked before the final payment. Our new roof snagging inspection looks for faults and unfinished work on the roof and around the property. The findings go into a written report with photos that you can pass to your roofer. We’re independent of the roofer who did the job. Typical surveys look at verge tiles or slates not secured and missing or blocked roof ventilation, across loft conversions and dormers, ridges and verges and flashings and valleys.

We will ask a few questions first, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes roughly 1–2 hours at most homes, or half a day or so for a commercial building.

  1. You tell us what work was done and when.
  2. We check the coverings, ridges, hips and verges from safe vantage points.
  3. We look at valleys, flashings, gutters and the underlay at the eaves.
  4. We check the loft where safe and look for debris or damage.
  5. You get a photo report of each snag.

How our prices work

We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

What’s near Eastbourne

Around Eastbourne, our work takes us to homes and buildings near St Andrew, Princes Park and Stafford Junior School and the streets around them. You’ll also find The King's Arms Public House (0.9 miles south-east), WMG Academy for Young Engineers (1.5 miles south-west) and Ratton School (1.1 miles west). The closest station to Eastbourne is Hampden Park station, roughly 0.7 miles north-west. Well-known places in the area include Pevensey Castle (3 miles north-east) and Royal Sussex Regimental Museum (1 mile south-east). The countryside around Eastbourne includes Combe Hill.

Buying a home or a new roof across East Sussex

From Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea to its smaller places, homes across East Sussex range from period houses to post-war estates and new builds. Whether you’re buying or have just had a roof replaced, a written roof report gives you something specific to raise.

From inner London terraces to Kent oast houses, Sussex tile-hanging and Hampshire thatch, the South East has a huge mix of roofs. East Sussex is part of that mix. Parts of East Sussex are coastal, so wind can decide whether a drone flies or a roof can be reached safely. A windy forecast can mean a change of date.

Eastbourne: Take an older house close to St Andrew: a survey will show how the roof has been repaired before, which helps you judge what’s coming. Landlords with a home close to Hampden Park station may find that it is worth knowing a roof’s condition before you buy it, or before you sign off new roofing work on it.

Different roofs, different checks

Slate roofs

Ridges, verges and valleys are checked closely on new slate roofs from safe vantage points.

Underlay and ventilation

At the eaves, the underlay should run into the gutter so water drains away. We check it where it is visible.

What affects the price in East Sussex

A few things affect what a survey costs:

  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • Height and safe access
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • How big the roof is

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Booking your survey

There’s no need for technical words. It’s enough to let us know:

  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • Any deadline, such as an exchange date
  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them

Our phone lines are open seven days a week. For a price or to book, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Why act early?

Defects and warranty periods have an end date. A snagging inspection before then leaves time to act.

Before you book any surveyor

  • Is there a chance to talk the report through?
  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Their track record with similar roofs
  • How they’ll see the roof: from ground level, the loft, the roof or by drone

Practical tips

You do not need to be a roofer to help. Here’s what helps most:

  • Walk round the house to look for knock-on damage
  • Check the roof before you pay in full
  • File all paperwork for the new roof
  • Check that gutters weren’t left full of offcuts

Report times depend on the package: within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and the same day for Premium. That is worth bearing in mind if a payment date is close.

Do not settle the final bill until the roof has been inspected if your contract allows it. It keeps the job open until it’s right.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • How the roof will perform for years to come
  • Legal advice on your contract
  • Pricing the remedial work

Common questions in East Sussex

How soon after the work should I book a snagging inspection?

Before the final payment is best so snags can be raised while the job is still open. If that is passed, book before any defects or warranty period ends.

Is East Sussex in your area?

Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and that includes East Sussex.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.

Do I need to be at home?

Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that beforehand, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.

Do you look in the loft space?

If it is needed and safe to reach, yes. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement, as far as the space allows.

Will you fly a drone over my roof?

Yes, where it’s applicable. Flights depend on the weather on the day and airspace rules, including flight restriction zones near airports. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.

What’s the price of a snagging inspection?

Our packages start from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. Just phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form for a price.
